Questions from a newbie?? warrenty, snow driving, etc

Ok im looking to get an evo in a few months and like every other newbie out there I have a lot of questions, I've done a few searches and just need some clarification.

First of all, I noticed that whatever evo you get (VIII, IX, or MR either) is basically up to prefrence. So my question is I would go for the IX just because of the warrenty for 10 years but a few of the people posting have said that mitsubishi wont really honor that warrenty on an EVO. Is this true?

Next I'd like to get about 350 whp, Do the mods added immediatly void my whole warrenty? Aka with Ford all parts the mod effects are voided but not the complete warrenty.

Finally, this EVO would be my everyday driver. We live in a town with a lot of snow often in the winter, how does the EVO do in snow and ice, anyone have real experience not just bench experience in snow?

Finaly how is an EVO for an everyday driver, i've noticed a few people have posted the millage on their EVO's, does the stiff suspension get to you? have you often thought of getting something else?

Thanks for you help

Turbo-trix and buschur racing do offer racing upgrades which I believe are warrantied by mistu and should have 330whp or so...however if any part like clutch, x-case, transmission is broken or worn out due to abuse it will not be covered....

Contact buschur racing in ohio or turbo-trix racing in new jersey for more information....

The evo does great in the snow just be sure to have all-season tires or snow tires like blizzaks because the stock oem tires are high-performance summer tires and will not give you any good grip in the snow.

check out the northwest region of evom.net (its near the bottom of the forum page) for any more questions, etc...

The WARRANTY is subjective, if you mod your car, plan to have issues with the warranty. It's basically common sense. If you install an AIR INTAKE and your AM/FM radio goes bad, i highly doubt you will have any issues with warranty.

By law, any mod cannot void your warranty. Legally the dealer needs to prove that the modification had something to do with the failure. They don't always play by the rules although.

The evo comes stock with Yokohama Advan tires, These tires will have absolutly no grip in freezing conditions. I.e. you will die if you try to drive the car in snow, trust me on this one, You will die. You must buy different tires.

No complaints for my daily driver, i've loged 10k miles driving 60 miles to work each day. I love the tight suspension and the seats. I came from a BMW and i have no complaints, very comfortable.

Just to re-enforce what has already been said... DO NOT DRIVE IN THE SNOW WITH THE STOCK TIRES. I switched to the Pirelli P6 Four Season in the stock size and had no problems in the snow and ice. Daily Driveability stock is great, just make sure you are comfortable with the streetability as you add mods.

thick, deep, packing snow is fun... but the light thin and fluffy stuff will mingle well with the stock shoes... btw i hate anti locks in the snow!

Come on I plan to drive mine in the winter with the Advans.....j/k I live in the SE so winter is when every couple of days the temps may dip into the 40s. I haven't had mine long but I am glad it isn't my only car cause it may be a pain in daily driving but certainly doable. Good luck and enjoy the Evo.
