Oh and afa gas prices, you probably wouldnt save as much as you think if you switch over to an evo. Driven aggressively, a tank of gas would last a couple of weeks. I average around 16mpg city and 20mpg highway.

Hehe well, don't make that comment just yet, there's quite a few a-holes on this forum as well

Then you should get rid of your evo now, because Hyundai used 4G63 N/T's in the early 90's, and pretty much all their engines and designes are cribbed/modified Mitsubishi designs, as are small Chryslers.

The X isn't expected in the US until early 2008. Do some searching on the net and you'll find that is the current company line.

I decided not to wait and I plan on getting a used M3. I can get an Evo X after it's been out a few years and they have worked out the bugs.

There have been plenty of remarks from Mitsu designers (drawn from R&T SPEED, SCC, and TopGear articles) that suggest that they're taking the Evo X upscale to take on the M3 directly, instead of screwing around with Subaru. Obviously not at its full-blown pricepoint, but that hints that the cost will increase significantly. Maybe another $5k jump like when the MR came out?

Given their history of "upscaling" models (the 3G Eclipse for example), I can't imagine that being an entirely good thing from a tuner perspective. Hopefully there will be some good discounts on remaining IXs when the Xs come out, so you're not forced into a decision.

Hey yeah, when the X comes out, wont it have lots of bugs to fix? I'd rather wait until the next one comes out.....hint hint the 7 and the 9 HUGE difference in performance.

As was mentioned above, Mitsu is said to be doing away with the proven 4G63 engine that's found in the current Evo models. If your goal is to modify in any way (even if you don't think you will at first, it's addictive), then you are probably better off getting the IX, whether it's the straight IX or the MR. One can only speculate about what exactly Mitsu is going to do with the new engine or how that new engine will handle upgrades. The 4G63 and the improvements Mitsu has made since the VIII have been proven safe and extremely effective. It's a smart buy.

All that said, the only way I would get rid of my VIII (even though the IX's are pulling better numbers with the same mods I have) would be for an Evo X. From the pics I've seen, I think it looks cool and unique. You really can't go wrong with an Evo, but the IX seems like the better buy for the present time. Why wait?

P.S. I drive fairly hard and am pulling 18-19 MPG city.

What kind of mpg are you getting with your S4?

If you run your evo hard around town,,, in full boost,, you will see between 12-16 mpg.

If you drive it normal I have seen 17-18 over the past 3 yrs of ownership.

You dont want the evo for its green factor! lol

BTW..... Have you seen the lines of the new A4/S4 coming out in 2008....omg its beautiful!

And yes the audi world forum sucks, its layout is like dos or somthing,,, they need a new layout like we have at evom.

Also welcome : )

You may also want to consider the fact that the X will be completely new. It takes Mitsubishi a while to work out the bugs. The difference between my 03 and 06 are pretty significant. I was always having problems with my 03 and I'm sure the X will be no different. My 06 has been flawless so far.

It's always hard to ignore the new thing out, but it'd probably be wiser to wait even another year for Mitsubishi to work out some issues.

So what? Geez, some people treat that engine as if it was made of gold or something. The 4g63 has been used in a wide variety of cars since it's inception. I bet you wouldnt be saying that if the new X engine outputs 350hp stock!
