2006 EVO MR or 2007 EVO X?

Hey everyone,
I'm new to the board. Gonna be a convert from 2006 Audi S4. Love the quattro, but I'm looking for a little more excitement in my ride. I'm in the market for a new Evo. My dilemma is this. Do I get into a 2006 EVO MR or wait a few months to get into the new 2007 X. My dealer says they are gonna start taking orders next month. Any thoughts?

I personally am not a fan of the styling of the X. I got my IX 2 weeks ago and have loved every second.

Any thoughts on difference in performance? I hear to expect about 40-45 more bhp.

Well, if you want an X, it will be a 2008 model so you wont have it for a while. They will take your order but you wont get a car for a while.

As far as hp, I have heard 300hp but who knows for sure. Main thing to help your decision is when you want to get a new car. Also if you want a manual trans or an automatic/manual. I would think the X would be quite a bit higher in price because of all the new ad ons.

If you have been on the boards for a while you should know the the dealership are the worst part about owning a EVO. I am still triing to find out the the EVO IX SE hits the showroom.

Thats sounds right. Cars usually come out in the months before the model year. Its just that nov./dec. 07 is still 17 months away.

I don't think we'll see the Evo X in the states until next spring. Expect a similar timeframe as the intro of the Evo VIII. So really your choice is get a IX now or wait a year for a X. If you have a practically new '06 S4 it would make more sense waiting another year.

The price has me wondering. However, I don't think Mitsu would increase the price to the point that they have to market to a different crowd. They have a dedicated fan base in the price range they are at. Maybe a few thousand more. ( I hope !!! ). As for the DSG trans, I've driven it with Audi. It really is a great thing. I had major reservations about it before I actually drove it . My S4 used tiptronic , and it was @$#^&. (same as SMG by BMW). Tiptronic was a dog! The DSG is actually more of a manual transmission than it is automatic. I actually feel like I'm driving a manual.( with the exception of my left foot not knowing what to do).

i'd get a IX with the warrtalon/buschur upgrade and have an 11 sec monster. i could not stand to wait for 2 years if i were you. this way you would be able to enjoy it for that period of time.

I wanna get rid of the S4 because gas is costing me about $400 a month with that thirsty V8. I just got married, and need two rides now, so I must down size in cost. S4 costs about $1200 a month when gas is included. If I can't get into the Evo X until at least spring, I think I will need to get the IX MR. I can't wait that long with only one car in the house.

Like most people have said, the X won't make it to the US anytime soon. It'll get here eventually (mid-late 2007?) so if you can wait a while, it'll be worth it for sure. If you can't, then go ahead and get the IX or wait a couple of months and get the IX SE (added visual upgrades). Either way, you wont go wrong but just remember the X will be a whole new evo and from what people have been told/saying, it'll be a huge improvement over the current generation.

Thanks for all the comments and thoughts. People on this forum are way cooler than on audiworld.com. Audiworld has a lot of pompous $%^$&. I'm just a newbie here, soon to be Evo owner, and I appreciate everyone's experience and knowledge.
