2 super newbie questions.
2 super newbie questions.
Sorry about the question since they are very basic questions but I'm not really finding the answer anywhere.
1.If you upgrade to a ported manifold, I always see people say 10.5 hot side, Whats that mean exactly, is that for the manifold or the engine? So this mean you ported your engine to match up to the manifold but then how many port the other side, should you? Can some one explain this too me a little better.
2. Will a short shifter, lets say like B&M fit a MR 6-speed just fine or will it only work for the base models with the 5-speed like an RS or regular evo8/9.
Once again sorry for the questions I'm just not finding the answers.
BTW: happy 4th

1) The 10.5 hotside is the hot side of your turbo - the turbine housing. We port and coat that in addition to porting and coating the stock manifold then adding a coated stainless steel o2 housing to promote more efficient exhaust flow, more knock resistance, and lower underhood temps.
2) There is no short shifter for the 6spd, because of the reverse lockout ring.
Using the advanced search would tell you all this.

10.5 refers to the turbine housing. I believe that 10.5 refers to the size of the turbine inlet nozzle. Someone correct me if I am wrong but if you have a evo 9 you already have the 10.5 housing. From what I have seen you need a different short shift kit for the 6spd. By the way the manifold (or headers) is bolted the the exhaust ports on the head then connects to the turbo. Its the thing attached to the front of the engine with the heat shield on it.
bad idea...always flip through the fourms first. the guys around here are gonna wanna flame you so bad. anyway. the 10.5 refers to the mm size of the hotside of the turbo (the side coming out to the engine, im simple terms) its bigger to allow better flow...better flow=more flow and faster spool, more power, ayda yada yada. you have one from the factory. a short shifter is a short shifter, the only thing it does is change the fulcrum point to allow shorter throws...it'll work for both...actually now im not sure because i dont know how the reverse for the 6speed works. scratch that. anyway dont think about upgrading your exhaust manifold yet thats a honda/rice thing to do. unless you actually have the exhaust to utilize it.
Thanks guys. O, I'm not doing it, not a chance. Basically because I don't know. That's why I asked. I wouldn't go into anything like that unless I really new my ****, I've just seen that around a lot and wanted to know what it meant. I'm going with basics for now as in like TBE, boost controller, flash, etc. Thanks again.
