VIII to IX Suspension Question

I am a former EVO VIII owner. I am an older guy and loved the EVO, but was always at odds with the ultra-firm ride. I know...performance car rides that way, so save the obvious comments.

I know the MR's are supposed to ride differently, but is there any suspension differences on a IX RS or GSR? I am tempted to jump into a IX, but worry about my teeth.

Thanks

The suspension is unchanged for the IX. An RS will be even more harsh than a GSR. I have an MR, and it is not harsh at all.

Yes the MR has a softer spring rate but the VIII MR and the IX MR have the same struts and springs I believe.

The MR has the Bilsteins that help the most.

If the ride is real rough on you grab a set of TEIN SS Coilover and set them to the softest setting

I drove the IX RS, then the GSR and then the MR before/while buying mine and I honestly couldn't tell much of a difference between the three. They all ride great to me.

i just went from an 03' VIII to a 06' IX MR and there is a night and day difference between the bilsteins and the others(i thought koni but i could be wrong).
i'm not exactly sure how some people can't tell the difference but maybe there are just test driving them and not driving on a road that they know. the bilsteins are much better at dampening the little high frequency stuff that the old VIII shocks weren't too good at.
and also going over speed bumps at work the blisteins are definitely softer. you should test drive one, i think you would like it much better than your last one.

or you could always buy a set of bilsteins from someone on the forum. people are always selling them. hell i have a set with only 600miles that i swapped with my ohlins. (i'm hanging onto mine though)

I didn't think there was much of a difference between the IX RS and the MR, as well. The MR was perhaps slightly less stiff. OTOH, I though there was quite a bit of difference between the IX RS and a VIII GSR, with the IX's suspension being the more compliant of the two.
