Obviously I am a newbie and I just bought a 2005 Evo VIII MR and was just wondering what the difference was between the VIII and the IX?

Yea, I already looked on that thread and i didn't find anything explaining the difference between the VIII and IX. All I see is a break down of model year differences??

 

well in my opinion the big difference tome is the motors. while they are the same 2.0l turbo. the 9 has a mivec (variable valve timing ) head. which from my experience has some sick top end. you will also get alot that 9's make more power on the same mods. i think it is cuz the head but i am sure this should be a good start for you as far as what is different.
