Turbo4me,Welcome to Evolutionm. Your SRT-4 actually looks very nice as well. If you liked the SRT-4 then you would fall inlove with the Evo 9. As you already mentioned you already heard all the good things about the Evo 9 so I wouldn't go over again.
You are getting into a superior level of performance and you wouldn't regret that you bought and Evo 9. Modding the Evo 9 is another of the highlights of this engine, far superior than all the competitors, spend $1000 and get 100hp, spend $1500 and get $120-130hp extra and so on. This car is very rewarding.
Enjoy your new ride.

I know of several SRT-4's that could hold their own against Evos...
but anyway, welcome to the convert club. I got rid of my 03 S1 and more goodies SRT-4 for my 03 Evo in May of last year. I've never regretted it ONCE.
went from a 13.4 car to a 12.77 car. Gone from 1.9 60's on DR's to 1.69 60's on street tires.
