the vortex generator didnt give the MR a lower top speed......it was because the MR has a 6 speed gear box which has a lower top end than the 5 speeds.....

really? I would imagine it would be the opposite...better top end because of extra gear.

 

Final drive ration is lower in the 6 speed. I had my car up to 155 with megan racing exhaust and flash.

 

I could only go 150-153 ish. IT was pinned, not moving from there.

 

I think its drag limited, 145 with three people including me and 155 by myself but i mean damn iv only been up there at that speed a couple of times. 120 is too easy (haha) going beyond that you really need space ya heard

 

I've hit 140mph and it felt like it had a lot left. I'm guessing 160+mph

The Evo, along with many cars, is electronically limited to 155, a reflash or stand alone will take care of the limiter...

 

there is no electronic limiter on the evo or sti and not most other four bangers since they cant go much faster than 155 completly stock. modified is a different story.

 

I did 160 on a track and the car had more left but had to brake. The Top Gear video says 175 is the top speed on a MR, but that was with 400hp.

yes it has an extra gear but all of the gears are shorter.....the 6 speed has a lower final drive gear ratio

 

I went 155 with my buddys honda civic witha k20a droped in it, i was on my way up on the 5 north throught camp pendelton and i looked down and it said 155 so i backed off, but i think i could of gone fgaster, i was just wondering what it was, if there was a top speed i wanted to know if my mods made me faster or not, ARC induction box, and the skunk 2 cat back exuast

 

and supposedly from what ive read a lightly modded 5 speed evo...with an increased rev limiter can hit 173 on the stock gears........
