Yeah i can't believe how people beat these cars. I guess if you've got the money to constantly fix/repair drivetrain parts then fine... but for the rest of us what you said is true... bouncing off the rev limiter and dumping the clutch is one of the fastest ways to start breaking things in an awd car. these cars weren't really made for drag racing were they???

With the EVO you should launch off the rev limiter with a quick slip.

Yeah I know, these are incredibly fast and fun cars. I just don't like the thought of breaking my car. I guess if you're gonna drag race you might not be as fast but slipping the clutch will save your transfer case. Or I guess you could blow everything up and take advantage of your warranty. LOL

since this is a launching thread, i feel compelled to ask this question. What is this plug, or something removal that allows the cluch to grab a little quicker than stock?? Some sort of stock tranny mod?? cant find the thread for the life of me.

It's a clutch restrictor. It's a big "plug" put in the slave cylinder with a small pinhole in the middle, which makes the fluid move more slowly. Instead of having the whole width of the line to force the fluid through, it only goes through that pinhole. This slows the reaction of the clutch compared to your clutch pedal. We just remove the slave cylinder and let the restrictor fall out...

You mean the launch control, not the rev limiter. Yes, this method works using launch control, but you don't go to 4800rpm. You let it bounce off the 2-step with your foot planted on the accelerator, then you slowly let out the clutch until it starts to grab and move you forward. Then, you release the clutch quickly and haul ***. With only a 5k launch limiter, it requires more slipping of the clutch, but if you remove the limiter or get it raised with a Dynoflash, then it will require less slipping - it's up to you to coordinate your feet to get it right regardless of the rpm.

Sliqdaddy, what we do is not extreme. What you do doesn't work. You probably think it works based off driving on the street, but trying to launch at 3-4k simply is useless. All you're doing is killing the clutch by slipping the hell out of it, and if you went to the dragstrip, your 60's would be 2.2-2.3 with you wondering why your 1/4-mile times are so bad. This is a very common mistake that people make, especially those who came from FWD/RWD cars.
