I've had both; I bought a V1 for my wifes STi and when I bought my Evo I fell victim to the marketing scheme of radartest.com and bought the X50. Well the X50 may be slightly more sensitive than the V1, but I mean slightly, not enough to give a marked advantage, the V1 warns with plenty of time to slow down.

The first time out with the X50 I noticed that I was having to slow down a lot more often than I would with the V1. Not because it was going off any more, they both go off about the same amount times with false signals and real; it was beacuse with the X50 I had no idea where the signal was comming from and therefore I slowed down with every bleep that popped up.

Here's an example:
Merge on to the freeway following behind my wife in her STi with the V1, the X50 starts going off, okay... so I slow down to the speed limit. My wife? She's still going like a bat out of hell. Me (at the time) had no clue where the signal was comming from so I slowed down. My wife w/ the V1 can see that the signal is comming from the side and therefore is not a threat, so she takes off.

2nd occurence: merge onto the freeway and the X50 is beeping a steady K band signal where there's normally not one. Look in my rear view and see no cop, look way ahead and see no cop, signal still going off. Have no clue where the cop is. At that point I realized how much I missed the V1. It's nice knowing where the signal is comming from. You get on the freeway w/ the V1 and if it's going off it's pointing out the direction the signal is comming from. May not seem like much but it helps to decipher on your own if the signal is a real threat or not. A lot more times than not it's not a threat and you can get on with it, whereas with the X50 your clueless and you just have to keep driving slow until the signal stops.

Just my personal observations, take them for what they are.

Im looking at the "Escort Passport 8500 X50" (http://www.escortradar.com/x50.htm)

What do you guys think? Are there any better out there? Which do you think I should get?

Thanks in advance!
