Boost Taper Question???

As we all know the boost tapers down as you approach redline. I understand that it is possible to achieve full-boost all the way to redline. My question is this; Can you eliminate the taper down with a Boost Controller, or is it the flash that does this?

Second, why does the boost taper down? I know that in Japan they have some strange regulations (agreements) regarding HP. Could Mitsubushi have made the boost taper to keep the HP down, or is it more of a mechanical function?

Your going to taper no matter what because the turbo isn't efficient enough to sustain that kind of boost at high rpm's. A flash or MBC will gradually reduce the taper, but its still going to do it regardless. Also with the introduction of MIVEC, it seems harder to hold more boost to redline compared to the Evo 8's, but we still make more power than the 8's with the same bolt ons.

The chance of detonation increases as the revs go up.
