03 to 05 GSR, need inputs!

I have the opportinuty to move from my 03 to an 05.
I've test-driven the 05, I've found some differences. Not sure it's normal, so I'm referring to you guys to help me do the right choice

Both car are stock.

1) My 03 has some all season tires (Pirreli P-Zero Nero), the 05's got the advan. The 05 makes a lot more noise than my 03. I was hoping a small difference but it was big in fact.

2) I've heard a rattle noise on the front left side, rattle sound which appears and dissapears with a frequency linked with the speed of the car. I sounds like a bearing or a brake problem Can it be? I've already heard this sound in a old 911, it was the bearing...
This create some vibrations on clutch pedal.

3) Engine noises are different:
- When I accelerate, I have like a Grrrrrrr more aggressive with the 05
- No Dump valve noise at all on the 05 whereas on my 03, people used to turn their heads.

So, does all those small difference a big deal? Are they normal?

Other than that, clutch on EVOs are noisy when clutch is not engaged, my 03 and the 05 are making noise.
Spool up seems to be better on 05.
Engine is much much smoother on the 05 than on my 03, is it normal?

It looks like noob questions, I hope it's not. I just want to avoid problems...
Thanks!

Keep your 03.

You can make your 03 just as good as an 05 for less than the tax on the 05.

If the 05 is making funny noises the person selling should take it in for repair as it should be covered under warranty.

Why are you looking to jump from 03 to 05? IMO, waste of money!

Why do I want to trade my 03 for an 05?
It's not a question of power. I know that 03 can be as good as 05.

There are other reasons like the transmission system, no hassle on TC or Synchros in Gear box, peeling on wing, brake calipers, etc...

Plus, I need a good deal for the trade which is not done yet neither...

BTW, thanks for your answers

You might as well trade your 03 for an 06. There is a lot more differences between the two.

I've looked at the 06 as weel but the price is not the same...
It seems the 06 is close to the 05 handling wise.

Tell me if I'm wrong but the difference is mainly the power between an 06 and an 05.

Once again, if the opportunity is good I can move but it has to be really good, I really love my 03 Differences between 03 & 05 aren't that big from what I've seen.

True, but from what I've seen is that its cheaper to gain more power in the 06 than the 05.. I also thought mitsu tweak the suspension and ACD to handle a lot better. From The specs I saw it seems that the spring rates were changed to reduced body roll. I personally wont trade because I have already spent quite a bit of money. I cant justify the money I would be lossing, plus I am quite happy with the car.

The suspension tweaks where only for the JDM EVO's. We get the same suspension as the 03's and the ACD is the same as the 05's.

Would be a mistake to move from an 03 to an 05, especially THAT 05 (doesn't sound good to me) when the IXs are so much better. You can get a brand new one for a rock bottom price at South Coast Mitsu and end up with no mileage, a brand new car, the most power possible, 0 problems, and all the best features that the USDM Evo has gotten to this point.

There's no change in handling from 03, though.

OK OK, so definitely not a smart move...
The goal was also to make a trade, if I'm going to South Coast I will have to get rid of my 03 by myself.

How can you explain the smoothness of the 05 engine compare to my 03? Normal or not?

Regarding the 05, if it's a bearing it should be covered by warranty anyway.

I guess this move depends of the price as well. 03 with 24k vs. 05 with 7k. I wanted $4,000 max difference (which sounds not really reasonable IMO).

Thanks for your oppinions & your help

The engines are the same. Do you have any mods on your 03? Newer cars will feel tighter but eventually they will all feel the same.

I have an 03 and haven't had a single problem. I beat the **** out of this car.

The only mod I've got is a K&N drop in. I'm gonna check the MAF today...
I always have this non smooth engine even with the stock air filter.

It's when I'm releasing the gas pedal, it's like if the transmission was not smooth enough in fact...

Have you checked your motor for boost leaks?

Today, I've cleaned up the MAF. It was full of grease. Does it help? maybe a little but not that much.

Regarding the boost leak, I can check, I'll do it next WE.
I have a boost gauge, It shows a peak boost of 18-19 psi.
However, I don't know where the pressure is measured.

do it do it do it
What does that mean? check the leak or trade the car?
