Which of these two will hold more value in the future?

Isn't the RS more rare than the MR?

both of their resale values are proportional to their MSRP's.

Good question! I'm looking to buy. My concern is that since this will be a daily driver and parts do wear, let's say when I go to buy shocks later in life, if I have the MR they will be a lot more expensive, because don't the MR's have special shocks and handling equipment...that is just an example, is there anything else?
Thanks,
Chris

I would never consider anything besides the Mr. If all you want is to go all out and bash the hell out of it then go get a used lowest model Evo 8.

Yep. I'd go with the MR. 6 speed, HID's, BBS rims,... If you truly are choosing between just the RS and the MR, that is. If it were me and I was looking at getting any Evo, I'd get a regular GSR with SSL.

RS has no power locks or windows=you think you can live with it now but it sucks later
RS has no wing=you can actually see out of the rear view and don't attract all the attention
RS spools faster because of lighter turbo component
RS is cheaper by a long shot especially if you can find a low mile used one like me
RS does not have the interior inserts
RS has no wiper interval and the wipers swipe to fast on the lowest setting and gives you the GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR... F'n annoying
RS has no HID's You can't see s_it on low beam at night

I LOVE MY RS AND WOULD HAVE STILL BOUGHT IT AGAIN BECAUSE I AM A PURIST

I've seen several 05 MRs recently selling for $25k. I tend to think the RS will hold its value better as a percentage. From my experience, when you have a similiar model car with relatively minor differences, the lesser models tend to bring down the price of more expensive models. A good example of this would be the Evo VIII with SSL. I believe that was a $3000 option. But if you look around at the ads, you will find most SSL cars selling for anywhere from $500-1000 more than a regular GSR. Another good example is the various models of 350z's. The track model used to run over $10k more than the base model but if you look at the used prices, they are within a couple grand of one another now.

With regards to maintenance costs, they are both going to be comparable. The only difference worth mentioning would probably be with the MRs 6-speed transmission. If you had to replace it (rather than just rebuild) it would cost more and you would have a harder time finding a used unit as opposed to a 5-speed.

If you were looking for the model that will hold its resale the best, my guess is the GSR as it will appeal to the most people and offer the best bang for the buck.

I want all the power options, and ABS. My concern was the higher dollar, more race minded pieces of the MR. I will buy the MR if the RS does not have all the power options. I am confused, what is the GSR and SSL? What's the difference? I cannot afford a new one so i'm really looking at 03s, not sure what year johnnyRacer is looking for and I don't want to steal his thread. But hopefully we can answer both our questions...

SSL is a GSR with leather interior(i don't like very much), HID headlights(i like very much), a premium infinity sound system, and a sunroof. if you're looking at 03's, they all have HID headlights.
