Well i had my car up on the lift the other day to instal my downpipe, and noticed that the bottom of the motor was covered with oil. I'm over 90% sure it's the rear main seal, and my mechanic thinks so too.

My question to you guys is, would oil possibly leak into my clutch assembly cuasing it to slip?

I also can't boost past 12 psi, and my mechanic thinks that it's because my clutch is slipping.

 

who's your mechanic and has he worked on evo's before? Do you know what a slipping clutch is? What the hell is a rear main seal? what mods do you have? Aftermarket clutch?

 

My local mechanic has never worked on an evo before, **** i'm 1 of the only 2 evo's in the northern part of the state. I brought my car to the mitsu dealer to have the 4th and 5th gear synchros replaced. I got the car back, and noticed a few days later that the tranny was leaking from the axle seal. I took it back and they replaced the seal, and assured me that it was good to go. I got the car back and noticed 2 weeks later that the bottom of my motor was wet from oil. A week before that my car car would not boost over 12 pounds(once in a while)and now i can't boost over 12 psi no matter what. When approaching 12 psi the rpm's would continue to rise but there would be no boost and it felt like it was engaging, slipping, engaging, slipping. My mechanic took it for a drive and he told me that he thought that my clutch was slipping when i hit 12 psi.

If you're asking me...then i guess i don't.

Okay, i'm a nub...and i don't know what the seal is called apperently. The seal between the tranny and the motor?

cat back exhaust, intake, bov(and yes it's recirc'd)

From what the dealer has told me, yes, and it's blue?
I bought the car from a used dealer, and they didn't tell me anything about an aftermarket clutch on the car.
