Oven cleaner works really well.

 

I'm not going to say you can't get the engine wet. It gets wet when you drive in the rain. However the wiring plugs on the engine sensors are not designed to withstand 600 psi of car wash water pressure. Also, get water inside the cam sensor and buy a new one - about $250.
