10 miles = predelivery off the ship/truck (and onto them) and unpacking / starting / rolling it around and then reparking it. There would be NO kms actual 'driving' on this car.

60 miles = HAS been used as a demo car OR it has had a predelivery problem that was picked up, required fixing, and has now been test driven briefly to fix. Most likely had a predelivery issue, they decided to use it as a demo car once fixed, and instead changed their mind.
60 Miles is NO LONGER a new car in my opinion you need to pay less for that car. Sure its only 60 puny miles but that could be launched off the limiter and FLOGGED for 60 miles. Its more than predelivery kms so id want to know exactly who, why and where it was driven or id just buy another different one for same price.

Sometimes ordering a whole new car is better because you get the very latest revisions etc despite having to wait.

I bought all 3 of my cars (S14 200SX, 06 STI and 06 Evo) off the showroom floor and had no related issues, condition was perfect on them all.
But I also made sure NONE of them had any more than 20kms on them

Mine was on the showroom floor. It had 395 miles on it, is a 2003 that was purchased in May of 2004. Just recently (last week or so) upon removing the front bumper, I noticed that the crash beam had a fat dent in it, like it had ran into a pole.

Next new car I get will be purchased off the freight truck.

I'll buy it. Must be less than 10 miles on the clock. Must have NO scratch on paint, dash, etc.

I order my IX MR, took me about 2 week to get it. It has 3 miles on it so I dont really know for sure if it was sitting in the saleslot or showroom. The bag or wraps are still there and everything was perfect, no scratch or anything like that.

After working in a dealership for a couple of years, buying off the showroom floor doesn't have the same effect on me as it once did...

I've seen too many people crawl around inside the cars, playing with all the knobs and switches, tugging on all the interior pieces, etc. Kids are the worst, as most parents don't bother to have any sort of control with them at all, and of course a car like the Evo draws them like flies to...

Even if it's locked up, people lean over and on the vehicles all the time, potentially scratching the hell out of the clearcoat, as well as running into them if they're not paying attention where they're going (yes, I've seen it happen), and all sorts of things.

Personally, I think buying off the showroom floor is just as risky as buying something off the lot - either one has the car sitting around for who knows how long during which time all sorts of things can happen to it.

I'd much rather order one from the factory, that way making sure you get it with the least possibility of damage occuring.

If you do buy one off the showroom floor, just make sure you inspect the exterior and interior quality VERY carefully, and make sure all the paperwork that should be in the glovebox is (you'd be surprised what people take out of cars).

dude if the car comes from the factory even like youre saying, it still leaves the factory, goes onto a truck, drives in traffic on the back of truck, gets rolled off truck at dealership, then legally the stealership MUST put kms on it to ensure the predelivery checklisting is complete and there are no road safety/driveability issues or failures.

Then and only then is it legal to sell it!
The minimum kms this seems to 'take' is 15-20kms (9.375 - 12.5miles Tops)

I suppose you could order it from the FACTORY, fly over there and 'pick it up', but unless you live in japan youre going to have to get it to where you live somehow.

I take your points on the showroom floor thing though! for sure that sounds like the general public

still between 9 and 13 miles should be about normal.

Mine had 9.4 miles on it when I took delivery of the car. I am willing to bet it had less than that before I bought it (well got the keys) but jockeying around and all adds up a little.

yeppo, and so does getting tinting done if you get it done, some countries/locations require the car to be taken to an inspection point before the local road transport authority will certify it roadworthy and issue numberplates for it. ETC

Mine had 3 miles on it. Wasn't a showroom either, it was locked outside under a balcony.

My brother bought his WRX with 400 miles on it. That thing was awesome and never gave him one problem!!!
