Evo MR

What are the main differences between the Evo MR and other Evolution models? I read that the MR has a 6 speed while the other models have 5 speeds... but that's all I gathered. haha

If you're going to rebuild motor/tranny/transfer cases. Put on aftermarket body kit, rims, tires, suspension, headlights/taillights, stereo... would there be a downfall to getting the MR as the car to do it with?

mitsubishimotors.com tells you right there what the differences are....

as far as 'mods' plz don't list headlights/taillights, bodykit, rims and stereo here....thats just telling us you are all show and no go.

the MR already comes with badass lightweight wheels...no need to change unless you need a second set for snow/track tires.

suspension is already great unless you track it all the time and want something more firm for tracking...

i admit the jdm headlights/taillights look nicer with the amber instead of white turn signals...

stereo...go double din with orbital...non of that ricer flip out screen stuff....

short of a JDM rear bumper...the Evo is already a hot car and doesn't need any body mods

Rebuilt motor/tranny/transfer case? That doesn't go under the category of "Go?"

I don't like dealer crap info. They rate things different with just catback systems and give drastic changes with minimal modifications. I don't want no bs dealer info.

AMS Body Kit is sweeeeeeet. Wheels are what I think he wants to do anyway.

Ok I'll chime in. A good chunk of the cost difference of the MR is the wheels, HIDS and suspension. So you are gonna be paying 5k more for an aluminum roof and a 6 speed. (Plus the cosmetic stuff).

That 6 speed is pretty key though... same bellhousing and all? Could you just just get a MR tranny and swap it out?

Are the casings different? Could you just build that base Tranny into a 6 speed?

That's a good point... where could you get a tranny? haha These cars are brand new still so that might be a tough one.

I don't know why I'm bothering when you won't even do a search, but you may want to read this:

mitsubishimotors.com isnt some local chop shops website that happens to sell Evo's...if you want basic info on differences its the best place to start because its the manufacturers web site

and yes, bodykits, 'flashy rims', and all that other stuff you mentioned is show not go...

ChrisUlrich: I think if you go into search and type in "GSR vs. MR" or something to that effect, you'll pull up alot of threads on this same topics. This topic is like the #1 most made thread. So you have to kinda understand why people get angry and tend to flame when someone makes another thread about this same topic. Hang out here and read some, you'll notice in another week or so, we'll get another thread about this same thing, and that other guy is going to be flamed.. so dont feel bad. lol. For the money, I dont think the MR is worth it, IMO.
