I'm debating whether or not to get an Evo.

Yeah... Like everyone said... making 1000 a month and getting a brand new evo is pretty hard... but I'm sure if you wanted to the evo really bad you could save up a little more and get one... Yeah and I got my MR for 35000 and it came out to be 389XX or so after TTT... So you're actually looking at around 34XXX...

A good idea if you wanted the car right away would be to ask your parents to borrow some money and I'm sure they wouldn't charge you interest and your payments would be less and not as long...

Yeah and the 50 bucks a week for food.... lets say you get 2 double cheese burgers and 1 large sweet tea for every meal(which would be disgusting...) that would be 21 dollars so... yeah lol... 29 for mods and repairs LOL

Dont do anything to kill yourself. Dont work for your car. If your making that much a month then save and use the money as a down payment. Til then you could build a fairly fast fun street 240 for around 7k or less. Just throwing it out there. Normally you can find great deals on already modded 240s for cheaper. I had to sell my 96 S14 for 6500 wit JIC coilovers, LSD and SR20 swap making 241hp. Yet again just throwing it out there.

I've been researching a ton of cars lately and the only car that I like so far is the Evo. The only thing about it is the cost. It would cost me about 30,500-31,000 to buy an IX in the Orlando area. Well like I said I'm only 19 and right now I'm working a job that only pays me 7.25 an hour. With that said I only make like 200 bucks a week and that comes out to 800 a month. I have about 11k to put down on the payment which would leave me with about 20,000 to pay off making my monthly payment about 320 bucks a month give and take for about 60 months (5 Years).

Is there any other 18-19 year olds that are doing this same thing and it this too big of a payment for me each month? Not only that but Insurance is going to be a ***** and I don't know if I can afford it. Plus cell phone bill is 65 a month, rent is only going to cost me 150-200 a month when I move out but still that equals a payment of about 600 a month leaving 200 for food/gas.

I really want one of these cars but I just don't know if I can afford it...Should I just settle for a cheaper car or save up for this bad boy...what to do....
Well first of all congratulations on having the ability to sit down and work out a budget. Not many 19-year-olds do that. You don't sound very "careless" to me.

Secondly, my compliments on your taste in cars. The Evo is indeed the best performing car in its price range and even $15k over its price range it's hard to beat.

Here's a good site for advice on buying new and used cars: www.carbuyingtips.com

To figure out what monthy payments might be, go here: http://www.bankrate.com/brm/popcalc2.asp

Unfortunately, I don't think someone making $7.25 per hour can afford ANY decent car, let alone an Evo. But you do have that $11K nest egg, so I suppose if you're living free with your parents, they provide meals and car insurance, you might be able to find something fun to drive for around 10 grand. I would not recommend taking out a car loan until your income goes up, however.

Good luck!

I got my Evo when I was 18... 3 years ago and picked it up for 28k + taxes and crap came out to a little over 30k.... I put 10k down and got a 4.5% intrest rate and my payment on the rest is 284.76 a month... so kinda depends on intrest rate ect... and where you live, expensenes.

You made a wise decision. Now hopefully when that car is all paid for, and you get a better job, you can trade+cash+ finance a nice Evo.

You don't know how to drive stick. Buy a cheaper car that is manual, learn how to drive perfectly, and then get an EVO if you don't change your mind by the time you get there.

edit: wtf was i thinking

sexy RSX, I love the blue ones. I think I saw your timeline thread on clubrsx, I had a rolling shot of your car as my background for a while :-D.
