So the general consensis is that the wing is functional, but not enough to cause an imbalance towards the front of the car.

The zero lift package on evos has a little rubber or plastic L piece on the wing and plastic that extends from the front of the car under the bumper.

So with the zero lift you dont get any downforce but you dont get any lift either? then without it we would get lift with the rear wing and not having the front plastic piece.
Im confusing myself again

IMHO, Its not very functional at all. If you compare it to a real functional rear wing such as those found on F1 cars or even JGTC cars, you will see that the angle of the wing is very steep compared to ours. The most downforce our wings can create is 10 lbs tops at 60 mph. Its more decorative than functional if you ask me.

That's because the Evo/lancer rooflines is so high.

I feel absolutely no difference between the RS and VIII. If anything her RS feels more stable at high speed. Probably cause the front lsd.

The real question here is, Have any of you actually tried out the other settings on our wings?? I have wondered how it would look and feel at higher speeds.

Its more functional with the "vortex generator." You can actually see the car being lowered if you are daring enough to see a MR race on the quarter/street looking at it from the front, slightly sideway.

Haha that's freakin funny. The front lsd does not affect the car at high speeds.

from experience (aka before the wing was ripped off by vandals) - at high speed you MOST DEFINITELY can feel the down force from the wing. high speed as in about 80+ (especially 100+). without the wing at high speed the rear end feels lighter, but still sufficiently planted.

the thing about f1 and jgtc cars is that they have enough power to overcome the significant downforce created by the steep angle of the wing.

I was told it really does not do a whole lot until 80mph.

You could change the angle of attack on previous Evo wings (before the VII i think). Shame they took out that feature.

Agreed but dont know what else to attribute it to. Oh well. I really could care less about the wing. If I ever get the car repainted its coming off.

the rear wing is functional but not a functional as you would think, I believe it adds 63.5 lbs of downforce at 110 mps with the vortex generator.
