functional rear wing?

Quick question,
Is the evo stock rear wing functional? And if it is does it create an aerodynamic unbalance between the front and rear of the car? Will an aftermarket front splitter correct this?

No The Lancer Evolution Is Perfectly Blanced and Every Thing on the car is there for a purpose and function, no the wing does not create an imbalance in the rear to front weight ratio. Well at least thats what i read, also i was told the car sinks 1/4 of an inch at 60mph from the down force. But you should keep the stock wing Cause its Carbon Fiber and looks SUPER ricy.

^ Noooooooooooooooooo My life is Ruinded i Don't have a Real CF Wing AHHHHHHHHHH

BTW why is it called a wing and not spoiler, or reversed Airfoil, because it doesn't lift the car up it pushed down with the airfoil shape.

Honestly how do we know that it's functional or not. The manufacture says that it gives down force and we just think that it gives downforce cause we assume that the air flows over it and forces it down.

I mean I hope it's functional, cause i think it looks better with the wing then without (IMO).

We should have Top Gear put it into a wind tunnel and test for us!!!!!!!!

I can see the Airfoil shape, and the wing has an airfoil shape to it. An airfoil looks like a teardrop cut in half. So it probaly Realy does work, how much is the question. Probaly at like 60mph you get like 75 lbs of down force i can see that wing excerting more than 150 pounds of force without breaking they are very cheaply made.

Wind tunnel tests have been done, to include the whole zero lift kit. Seek and ye shall find. I'm not going to look for 3 hours to find it myself, as I've already read it and know it's functional. Don't ask me for numbers, because I don't remember.

Also, it's a wing, not a spoiler.

Spoiler: Air only flows over one side. Think NASCAR.
Wing: Air flows over both sides, and can create lift OR downforce. Depending on configuration of course.
