Recommendation based on experience.

I am new to the forced induction game, what is a good reliable and fairly cheap boost controler and boost gauge, post your 2 cents, and let me know of any that have worked out great and created no problems and creative engine bay install locations on the mbc.

Hallman manual boost controller at JSCSpeed are pretty reasonable and very reliable.

If you want to save money get a good manual and avoid an electric one. They are great but the good ones aren't cheap.

Others might weigh in on the gauges. I use a Defi D mechanical, they are not cheap or all that easy to find anymore.

NO, On second thought, spend some money on a good gauge. Your engine deserves a GOOD gauge. You are driving a legend, don't cheap out on the gauge. If you're going to be adjusting the boost, know what you a really getting in there.

Increasing the boost without doing something to control or compensate for the added charge and cylinder heat is foolish. Yes, there are a few extra lbs in there if you are still at the stock boost level, but overall engine life will be affected if cylinder temps are too high.

You may not blow it up this weekend, but heat, especially above what it's designed and tuned to handle, is your engines enemy.

All of this of course presumes that you want your car to last for a while.

A lot of people recommend the Stuart Warner gauges here, not too expensive and accurate supposedly. I have a Greddy electronic boost gauge and haven't had any problems with it... it was about $140 I think.

stewart warner + joe p. mbc is a good combo that is cheap. They xz mbc which is what i have used is like 40 bucks? (its not blingy or pretty, just functional) it works like a charm.....You could get the gauge and mbc for easily under $100 for both.

I really like my stewart warner boost gauge (very inexpensive) and I also have a Hallman mbc that is relatively inexpensive too.

I am originally from SoCal as well, so that explains why I also recommend the Dejon Tool MBC and an Autometer 30-30 gauge, all for less than one clam. If you can justify spending more for the same practical need then the Forge Unos is a nice piece with click stop adjustabilty as is the Hallman Pro with the ceramic ball, and the Defi boost gauges are the choicest.
