my parents and brothers benz gets the best service hands down. I remember one year we were at my parents house for thanksgiving and my brother left his XM radio on and it drained the battery. we called the benz roadside service through our dealership and someone showed up an hour later with a new battery free of charge...on thanksgiving. Also all their oil changes are free for as long as they own the car (Mobil 1 full syn)

They were offering free oil changes (for life) and maintenance out to 60,000 miles (if I remember correctly) last year for a while with the EVO. When I bought my MR I received that maintenance package. Mitsubishi must have known that people buying these cars weren't going to like having to fork out the maintenance costs so they upped the incentive to own one.

OR, they figured people were going to get in over their heads with payments and wouldn't be able to pay for the service, so instead of having a bunch of used and improperly maintained/abused EVOs they figured the free maintenance was a good solution to keep low mileage vehicles floating around.

OR they figured that they wouldn't lose anything because typically an evo owner would want to change his own oil

Rez90,

I agree! If Mitsubishi were -

"MOD Friendly" like going to a Ford or Chevrolet dealer and actually worked in conjunction with say WORKS, Buschur or AMS to design a vehicle's internals to be beefier in the engine/drivetrain to handle light-moderate modifications like they do in the UK with the FQ. Mitsubishi would be more successful and more renoun in the US arena.

Can you imagine the possibilities if they actually looked at the community of potential and existing owners, their engineers sat down with the Tuner community and actually took an interest and designed the car and it's engine/drivetrain internals to be more stout and then offered optional "TUNER" packages from a few different Tuners what they could do?

I see the potential and their name would gain notoriety across the domestic/import market.

People would be flocking to buy them.

It takes some creativity/marketing but could easily be done.

Amazing is what I could see...

You hit the nail on the head. Good morning by the way...

I don't know where your getting your info from, but your thread is an exaggeration and you really have no credible evidence to support such a silly claim. Seriously you see for example five IXs for sale and assume everybody is selling their IXs. Seriously stupid thread here.

Well assuming this was actually true.. I personally haven't seen many for sale threads for the new ones..

Its as simple as this.. MOST of these cars are sold to people who just can't afford it.. Not just the payments, but the maintainance, insurance, MATURITY, etc...

I'm just SHOCKED at how many 18-25 year old's are spending $30-$36k OR MORE on a car as their second or third car. On top of that it can cost as much as $60-$100 a week for gas, and insurance for some of these poor guys has got to be $4k or more a year.. That would mean you'd have to come up with $1200 or more a month just to support the car, and that doesnt even include regular maintainance and repairs.. and the expense of MODS which VOIDS your warranty which in turn means your repairs are even MORE expensive.

Mitsubishi's warranty is just fine.. its the tools who abuse their cars, or modify them and expect to get it covered under warranty...

I am looking to buy another BONE STOCK 03 or 04 Evo, Everyone I have contacted about their car while looking for a stock car has been modified and put back to stock.. In some cases they have been deceptive about it ever being modified.. However I can easily tell if it had been at one time. I would see them doing the same thing to get the car to the dealer to repair or sell it.. My point is, the people complaining are the people who have no right to complain, they weren't in a position to afford or take responsibility for their commitment.

all in all, the Evo market is still in a cloud of smoke. Once the car has some history here in the U.S. then the car will have a more predetermined demographic. I remember in 03 when everyone was dying to own one, that was worse.

I'm no poet...

My VIII's my daily driver (somewhat)
My VIII drives to the track
My VIII drives on the track
My VIII can comfortably seat 5
My VIII can hold groceries, bags, track wheels, etc
My VIII takes me to the ski lodge in VT and Canada with me
My VIII requires little more than fluid changes and car washes

So my VIII has a thirst for high octance
So my VIII's family (Mitsu) doesn't want to take care of it
So my VIII's insurance is a little high

There are very few cars that can offer what the Evo does.
If it's in your budget, it's an incredible, accomodating car.
For the reasons listed in my first paragraph, a lot of you bought it.
For the reasons listed in my second paragraph, a lot of people have to sell it.

im content with my 05 8 everything is great on it since the day i bought it. true you keep wanting to mod it, but now im taking a break with it. all the reasons everyone else said above are probably correct probably because of payments or something thats why they are selling. then you have the dumb mother****ers who decide because the SE came out they want to get rid of their one month old 9 for it. stupidity really if you ask me.
