Got a new MR, few questions

Yes i searched the forums before i asked this. I just bought a 2006 Evolution MR and have 553 miles.

1-I am going to go to 600miles for the break in and change the oil. How many quarts does it take? It uses mobil 1 10w30 full synthetic right? Also is there something you have to do with the oil sensor when taking off the drain plug. Is this a good amount of miles for the break in.

2- Also when i shift from 1 to 2 gear it kind of clunks and is a bit notchy. Not from down****s just 1-2 upshifts. Is this normal with the mr 6speed. And i warmed up the car and it still does it.

Sorry i am new to this car and forum.

the clunking is your driving style not the car...you need to ease off the clutch more...it shifts smooth for me around 3k rpm

your shifts will feel notchy but after awhile it smoothens out i had the same problem.
as for the oil 10w30 is correct that is what our cars take. do what the manual says to do stay under 5000 rpms for 600 miles then you can play around and at 1000 miles change your oil to the mobil1 10w30 good luck with the car this is what i did to mine and it runs like a champ

the notchy gearbox its normal dont worry and yes change the oil at 600miles and you dont have to do anything with the oil sensor just make sure you dont spill oil to it!

Go back to the dealership and pick up the correct manuals...everything you asked about is in it. The notchiness is NORMAL. I thought it was me also but at around 1500miles, it shifts like butter.(considering you are actually shifting correctly) Im not changing my oil til 3000miles because that oil is too expensive. After researching, I found the casting of the blocks dont have big problems with shavings

Keep an eye on oil level when breaking-in the car, mine IX used about half a quart before my first oil change.Keep a quart on hand,by the way the type of oil to use is right on the oil cap.

Dude Good Luck With the New Car, I got a new 06 MR. I love It And As Far as that Clunking I get the Same thing too, but after a bout 1000 miles its starting to lossen up and when you get the tranny hot it realy gets soft. You Should check out Evo-ny.com ITs like Evom but more localized to the tri-state Area. Also You can Switch your gauges with your Radio, helps keep you from getting into a crash when looking at the Gauges cause they are Closer to the windshield. Good Luck With the new Car man, BTW What color is it.

once the tranny breaks in and you get use to it, it's a great shifting car.

My tranny got a lot smoother at around 1500 miles. Just drive it easy and it'll loosen up.

No point in changing your oil early either. I've actually read somewhere that Mobil 1 synthetic works better when the oil has been in the motor for a while.
