USDM IX = JDM IX GT...Not GSR!

I was watching Best Motoring debut of the Evo IX vid for the upteenth time. Upon Mitsu engineers going over the various models available, I clearly heard them say that the GSR does NOT have a turbo equipped with a magnesium turbine. It's just the regular 'ol turbine that the VIII got, but in the larger compressor housing. The GT and the GSR both do.

With this said, I think the USDM standard IX is more like the GT and less like the GSR. I demand a recall of everyone calling their non-MR/RS Evo's being GSR !!

old news, but technically the usdm version is just a ix while the jdm spec is the ix gt. both are still different cars as the gsr is separate from the mr.

silex, are u familiar with the import club on campus?

The USDM Standard Evo VIII/IX's are classified as a GSR as per VIN, the RS, RS, the MR is MR...

The owners calling their GSR a GSR has nothing to do with JDM spec Evos...

I'm assuming that's because, if I recall correctly, the GT has a 6-speed. I guess us IX guys really are just plane jane. Wonder why the USDM IX's have GSR vins?

I like the way you think, but I would hate for someone to ask me how I got a GT into the states

You mean at UCSD? I think I have, but I'll be sure to look them up. Are you a student here as well?

I really don't think this matters very much.
