Which year evo do I want?

I am looking into getting an evo VIII GSR. Were there any variations from year to year within the generation? Is one year preferable to another?

Thanks!

If its a VIII then get a 05. It has ACD, and a 10.5 hotside

04 05's are solid. There were numerous TSB's surrounding the 03's so youre safer buying a later model than earlier model assuming the kinks were worked out.

Aren't the '05s that are having the transmission issues now? Or is that just in the 6 speed gearbox?

Whatever year is cheapest and has the fewest miles is what I would get... Just a good deal... Yeah the '04s are a bit better than the 3s and a bit worse than the 5s (course, I think after '03 was when they stopped the HIDs). But really, it's not much of a significant difference in my opinion. Stock for stock I think the '05 has like 4 more hp than the '03.

+1. Anyone saying otherwise either has an 03 or 04.

I have an '03 and I definitely agree with with the ppl recommending the '05 - though personally I'd spend the extra $$ and just get a new IX.

He was only asking about VIIIs though, so '05 it is.

thanks for all the replies guys!

Would a new one be worth it? I mean, the way I figure it, I can save atleast 5k or so going used '05. Thats a nice chunck of change to start modding on...
