I think so. I traded my VIII in for a IX and it was the best move I ever made.

Don't know yet if I'm getting rid of the haha. If I did, it is because my little bro wants to buy it eventually, so I would still have it at my disposal if I felt the need.

Guess it is time to get a few test drives in!

If I had to do it over again, although I love my IX, I would get an 04/05 for a good price and build the motor up and install a big turbo.

Here:

'03: No RS
'04: Rs comes with air
'05: Rs comes with air

Evo IX's in US follow suit from 05.

It all depends on what you want to spend , and what you want to do with the car, good luck with your buy.

The 05 and 06 models have the active center differential, front limited slip differential, and bigger turbo hotside. That is a considerable improvement over the 03 and 04 models.

The RS has air conditioning, but it doesn't have power windows, power mirrors, or keyless entry/power locks.

The 5-speed tranny is stronger than the 6, but that will probably only make a difference for you if you are taking it to the track, which I highly recommend!

Happy shopping.

I would never consider buying a used Evo unless I knew exactly what the car's and owner's history were. Too many stories of abused and poorly modified Evos being sold/traded.

Look at it this way ... Evo IX + TBE + Flash > Evo VIII + TBE + cams + camgears + tuning. With an IX you don't need to modify much of anything to get more WHP and you'll have no questionable history to deal with.
