you wont get any noticeable gains w/the upper ic pipe, they just look nice and blingy

I somehow disagree with that. An UICP can ultimately reduce turbo lag as well and increase flow and increase faster throtle response.

Per intance, the Burchur UICP reduces 19" of piping and 6 bends. Air will get through the Throtle body faster and with more flow. The faster the air gets to the inatke manifold the faster it helps to spool the turbo back up and so on.

My personal recomendation goes for the LICP first.

I think you will need a flash after changing your ic pipe. I'm mech but it might be a good idea to due it anyway. You are messing with spool up time when you do this.

I got ya! the key word is "noticeable gain" uh? OK I agree. It wouldn't hurt reducing the length of the piping in benefit of velocity and flow.

of course it will work without the flash. but the flash is required to get the most power of the part swap.

Licp first for sure if you want faster spool rather than the bling factor uicp gives you.

I had the LICP on my last IX, and didn't need a flash. I was recommended to disconnect the battery though for about fifteen minutes, and then put the part on. Start the car and let it idle for about five minutes and then drive it. I dont' believe it added that much in horsepower but the boost came on sooner and seemed much more smooth and linear.

I have heard though that changing out the LICP compromises torque on the top end? This was something I heard a couple weeks ago. Anybody know if this is true or not?

There are two bolts that are up there a ways. Its a really tight fit.

When I installed my LICP, I also happened to be upgrading my headlights with PIAA bulbs. So I pulled the whole front end off. Its actually not that hard to do. Takes about 15 minutes.

It does suck though that you do have to remove the lower plastic faring. Those stupid little plastic screw caps suck.
