Reborn

What's up going on EVOM?!? Well I finally One-Up myself. I got rid of my Hyundai Tiburon and got me my 06 EVO IX MR. I've been wanting to get the EVO for quite sometime now and now I got it and it kicks ***! I've been reading the forums for the past several weeks getting aquainted and decided to become a member, especially now that I have one. Well hope to hear back on some feedback on what my first mods should be. I want to do it right so give all the comments/suggestions that you can think of. Hope to be welcomed into the EVOM world. Thanks.

I have a Tiburon, but I'm still a couple grand short from buying a Evo VIII MR. I'm also looking forward to hear suggestions on what my first mods should be. From one newb to another, welcome.

TBE, MBC, drop in filter or Buschur cone, and tune! With the 8 you'll want to think about a fuel pump as well. Also a BOV with the 8 since the stock plastic one sucks. Best route is the JDM/IX bov or Forge RS.

I'm sure that you have plenty of mods for your Tib, but if you are looking into buying some parts, I still have a couple that I am trying to get rid of. PM me if interested.

Yeah I've been researching through the forums of TBE's and Catbacks, I think that I am going to go with HKS's. As far as a MBC and boost guage, still reading. If you got any suggestions on brands/models let me know. Also if you know of what shop to go to, to get tuned/flashed let me know also. I've looking into Vivid Racing.

I think I got the TBE covered but still need brand/model suggestions on a MBC and BOV. I want to do this right but reading up and making my decision. Any suggestions will help. Thanks.

Check out the Warrtalon/Buschur package. Regardless of what people may say about the people involved, I have heard good results from the upgrade.

I have a Apex manual boost gauge, and I havent had any issues with it so far. I also run an apex avcr boost controler, its an electric unit so probably not what your looking for, but it is awsome non the less.

tbe, just make sure you get a test pipe or high flow cat.
boost controller, get a hallman or forge.
boost gauge. defi, stewart warner, autometer, etc
bov, no need for one, you have a ix so your bov is metal just like the jdm bov i upgraded my viii to
intake, no need for one but if you must get a k&n drop in or a buschar cone
tune, there are alot of good tuners, jestrtuning, dynoflash, etc.

Thanks for the info. How difficult is it to install a boost gauge? Or will I be able to use the existing wiring from the stock boost gauge?

You should be able to, but I wouldn't. Gauge installation is pretty easy, it just takes time. Check the how to section, it will show you pretty much anything. As far as upgrades. Check out vishnu, AMS, HKS, Perrin...all make good exhausts.

Yeah sounds pretty easy and like you said, just got to set aside the time to do it. About the exhuasts, I've been seriously considering one of the HKS Hi-Power CBE.

Make sure whatever exhaust you get thats its 3inch, t306 stainless, & mandrel bent. Also, make sure its MR compatible, our tranny is a little longer. Some of these exhausts are very loud, so make sure you listen to as many before you choose.
