This motor loves to rev, and I agree with Warr Talon, your rings probably were never properly seated.
And I didn't want to buy a Corvette because of the people that own them? WTF?
No, we aren't taking it to the extreme, it is actually beneficial to put some sort of load on the engine. You won't know if anything is wrong with your boost if you don't use it in the first place. It's okay to be safe but still have fun flooring it a bit at the same time
all right already....chill out and stop the bashing...i did what the guy said...i was in 2nd at about 3k and stepped on it and my boost went up to 1 bar...i only had to press it about 1/2 the way down......you guys need to understand...this is my first turbo car...i'm used to gradually pushing the pedal down and the power being there all at once(no turbo lag).......there's no need to have an attitude about it....geez man.....i mean i get on it sometimes like when i'm pulling out in traffic or whatever but it's not like i have to do that all of the time....you guys are the reason noone wants to buy a used evo....because they are all ragged out....i'm just trying to take extra good care of my car...i've only had it about a month...give me a break already....36 grand is a lot of money for me...my car before this one was only 20 g's...and before that i had a toyota truck that i bought used for 6g.....this is the first sports car that i've ever bought....i did drive my brother's 300zx for a few years but it wasn't turbo...it was just v6 ...it's not like i'm some rich dude who has owned supras, skylines, or whatever...anyways...good news....i don't have a boost leak....lol
it's pretty funny how you can follow this thread even though i took all of my posts out.....lol

Half throttle again? Jeez, come on, man. What is going on? FLOOR IT...HAMMER IT...NAIL IT. That's what the car is meant to do. You are NOT taking care of it. You are treating it like a POS junker. You don't hit full boost by going half throttle. You hit full boost by going WOT = Wide Open throttle. Whatever, you wasted that $36k, that's for sure. You don't have any business in a car like this. You need to be driving something basic if you're this worried about "taking extra good care of your car." If only you could that what you're doing is the exact opposite of what an Evo is supposed to do.
i've been wot in 6th gear on the interstate at full boost....just chill man...i'm not in a rally race running against the clock....i'm just driving to work....and i'm not in a hurry to get there...i'd rather stay at home
You don't use the power nor the handling. No one said you have to drive to the limit all of the time. You don't drive it to the limit EVER. You don't even drive half way to the limit. You told us already that you shift at 3500. That's before we even begin to make power. YOu said that OCCASIONALLY you shift at 4500-5000. Hell, that's lower than the lowest RPM we see on the drag strip. I don't see how you could like the power if you have never even used or felt the power. That amazes me. I don't even want to get into the handling aspect. You drive it to work and don't boost hardly ever, so i can't imagine how you even begin to utilize the suspension. Even if you did drive it hard, there's no way to truly use the suspension on the street - it can only be done on a track or when autocrossing, and in those cases, it's only when driving at the limit.
yeah dude....if i had the money to put into the car and do all of that i would but i don't so i won't......besides the real rally car is a lot different than the evo that we bought...we'll see who's evo is still running in 10 years....maybe you're rich and you're gonna buy a new one every year or so but i'm not...this thing has to last me a good while
Sorry, its just, that we've never heard of someone that never floors their Evo.
If your just learning to handle the power and are gradually getting use to it (and hopefully will use it to its full potential soon
) then I commend you. I/we see too many times a noob that hasn’t had their car for long and wrecks it cuz they didn’t learn what the car is capable of.
More importantly than keeping the revs down is to make sure you change the fluids regularly, that will do more to insure a long life from your car.
lets move on.....
