Newbie Evo owner 101 ?
To properly warm up your car you really want to have it on until the oil gauge temp (if you have one installed) reads between 40-50 degree C; Mitsubishi manual specifies around 65 degree C.
Or simply wait until you see the water temp gauge move. IMHO, I generally wait until it's about 1/4 - 1/3 of the way which takes about 3-4 minutes.

In fact, you should go easy on the car all the way around until that 600 mile mark. The 4G63 engine is notorious for burning oil and encoutering other problems when not properly broken in. A proper break-in is essential to a strong Evo. I have one of the first 50 Evo VIII's brought to the US and with a proper break-in, I have had no problems at all. I'm now over 30,000 miles. Some of my friends burn oil like it's their job.

On the steering, don't get me wrong I love the steering, just on a road with ruts from trucks, the evo acts like it's a cat climbing out of a cage, it up and down the worn ridges, I guess I'll just get used to it.
Thanks again for all the tips and pointers.
Welcome and great choice on your ride!
My car scared the crap out of me at first........but 8000 miles later.....I can really make it sing!
The best thing I have done so far was to join a car club with track access and to take some instructional courses with trained drivers........I am in the Northeast and I have been on NHIS and Watkins Glen.....I will be at Lime Rock this Friday........these track days are just awesome....really lets you air our your ride in a safe venue....no cops, people or vermin!
As far as mods, +1 on getting some good advice off this site.....simply throwing $$ at your ride is a big mistake......you have a great car, just do the research, make the right choices and have fun.......these cars rock!
you'll be screamin' before you know!
