Bumped for some info. I need to delete everything except what's under the dash for future reinstall.

Can anyone tell me if it's just as simple as bleeding out the system, uninstall compressor/condensor/associated lines and unhooking the line that goes through the firewall?

This thread is kinda old, I have since removed my AC.

It was VERY easy. All you need to buy is a new belt. I did not remove the evaporator which is in the dash. Other than its very intuitive just remove all the components, nothing really tricky.

Yeah, it really shouldnt be that hard, i had to remove the a/c system on my buddies integra GSR, really wasnt that hard other than the position of it in that car made it somewhat tricky... Just be sure that you vent the freon into some sort of bottle off of the release valve or something because if you just pull off a line it will burst out explosively as it is pressurized.

well done. I am about to undertake this as well but have some questions about the electrical side of this deletion. Will this trigger any sort of SES(specific engine code)? If so, are there specific circuits I have to pull to make the ECM think everythings gravy with the a/c system? Will I need a reflash?

I have some very informative info for you guys. For the fortunate one who decides to read this here you go. I have finished with the removal of the A/C system. I have tested and drove my car quite hard for the past couple of days. The only really noticable difference I feel is going up hill. WOW! all I could say is WOW. The throttle response is crisp and quite "NO" turbo lag. and I am now quite afraid to WOT it without burning a whole lotta clutch. I do have an exedy twin plate and it seems to be in very good harmony with my timing. This car is now better than it was before in every way and will "NOT be easy" to beat with the guys who are buying those new evo 10's. To the one who tries. . . "I salute you" because this 03 EVO is somewhat telepathic to my right foot. And its a big foot.

go, dudy, it ur burfday, we gonna pull the AC like its ur burfday

PS - dudy, oneguy and me and weight reduction ******, so we'll take out nuts and bolts if we have to get the bish lighter

This is good info - I need to pull AC too outside only in case I sell it for an Evo X - Yes, blasphemy, I know!

Now, any idea how to safely release the freon? Is there a tool I can rent from autozone that empties it instead of re-filling it?

I don't know about a tool, but if you bring the car by a mechanics shop they should be able to empty it and recapture the freon since they can use it again.

No I have not removed it but I think everything under the dash is just under 10lbs including the fan and ducting and entire HVAC unit

yeah, I would leave it in coz heat/defrost probably helps unless you are purely tracking it and you'd have to fab up some sort of hosing for defrost or something, maybe. Cracking the window doesnt always help...
