good breakdown.... guess that explains some of the "ePolitics".
Yeah, there's a (oft-berated) .org site that also calls itself "Club3g".... I pretty much stick to the .com, though.
I can see the confusion at the semi-generic screen name. I joined the site with the simple intentions of getting OEM advice.... then began to ***** their boards and get more into the after-market. My s-name was chosen to be a simple description of my car... back when I was just an occasional visitor there.
EDIT: oops, page 2.... better quote who I'm directing this post toward...

This being said, you have a ton of options; and you can pretty much duplicate any stoker Evo setup you see on here.
Though i'm not sure how correct this is, but i think the 4g63 crank in the 4g64 block makes a 2.1L destroked engine (these suckers usually rev past 10k); and i think the 4g64 crank in the 4g63 block is the 2.3L stoker that everyone runs. (Might be the other way around, but either way, you get the point.)
It sounds like cost wise, the 2.1L stoker is best for you, being you can use your current block; though you need to source a 4g63 crank, 2.1L pistons and rods, and what ever else (see SlowBoyRacing). This is a great setup though, as Curt Brown used this motor to run 10's in an Evo on the stock turbo (fastest stock turbo record holder to this day). Plus, who doesn't want to rev past 10k?
Anyway, i think you made a good choice compared to the V6 model, and i have to admit that i would do the same thing, because of the potential.
Good Luck!

I appreciate your breaking down a few of my options for me.... I'm not sure I completely "get the point", though. As I said, I'm new to this.
Still, good info. I'll look into my options along these lines. Any sources you could reference on the above info, as I'm still a bit
??

A bit confused at your mentioning "a awd eclipse", though...
I may be new to engine building, but I know enough about my 3g platform to know an AWD variation is neither available from the factory or a feasible drivetrain "project"....
ThanX 4 the input, though, guys! Much appreciated!

Ok I've been wanting to tell someone this, but the other night at walmart I was drunk reading car magazines and I swear to god I seen a 3rd gen eclipse like this one with an EVO motor swapped into it... they said it literally bolted right in using the evo mounts and the fwd tranny mounted perfectly to evo motor as well Why and the world havent more people done this, they also said for the most parts the vehicle measurements as far as drivetrain should be able to mount a second gen rear end or possibly complete driveline... could you imagine the sleeper factor of owning an awd 3rd gen with an evo motor... WoW

.....we'll see. Honestly, it sounds like he knows little more than I do about what he's getting himself into.
EDIT: As for the possibility of upgrading to an AWD drivetrain..... no.
It's been discussed at length and continues to be brought up. General concensus? Waaay too cost prohibitive!! True, the Nineties' DSMs (Eclipses/Talons/Lasers) had such an option.... but they also had a different (shorter) wheel-base.

there is a guy on eclipseforums.org
who is currently doing the swap at the moment...
believe he is using GSX rear and EVO tranny...
dont think there is an eclipse with the WHOLE evo motor... there are QUITE A FEW with just the head though...

^ Oh, you're referring to that guy who's planning an AWD swap?!?
....I hope he's set aside some serious funds for this little project. If it turns out to work for him at a decent cost, I'll be surprised. I'll also want to try it on mine!!
I'm sure there's an eclipse SOMEWHERE with an Evo motor! I've yet to run across such a beast, however. Yes, there are a number of successful DOHC 3g's. I'd like to be one before much longer. Still doing my research as I start saving funds....
