hid ques.

My n my boy were talking bout hid head lights because he's putting them in his jetta. Now I read on the mitsu website that only the MR comes with hid's and the IX only comes wit projectors.. Is this correct.. I just wanna double check on here so I don't do something dumb and order them for when i get the car.

the regular IX gsr can have hid if it's equipped with the factory SSL (includes HIDs)

the projectors on the non-HID Evo's are not HID projectors. putting an HID kit on it will still produce a minimal amount of glare, but it'll look better than a reflector type IMHO.

ehhh putting HID in a non-HID housing has a very bad output. It scatters the beam all over the place and the visibility is much worse than if you have oem hid.

"Look good??" I'm not sure I understand, as their function is to light the road in front of the car.

Functionally, yes. I had a RS with the projectors and now have a SE with the HIDs.

The light scatter from the halogen projectors with HID bulbs won't be as good as HID projectors.

What do you mean by they wont look good? Have you taken a look at stock bulbs? They suck and the HID kit I have is 10x's brighter and they look great and "light up the road" great.

??

My GTI has 4 beams in its grill - 100w H4s. They are by far the brightest lights I've ever seen on a street car and the stock HIDs aren't that far behind.

HID output is almost directly proportional to heat. If the aftermarket HIDs really are that much brighter, good luck protecting the stock light housings from damage (ie. melting over time).

"light up the road" great.
If you're trying to quote me, that's not exactly what I said, which defeats the whole point of putting something in quotes. Regardless, none of this changes the scattering effect due to the stock non-HID housing.

No I am just curious about what you are saying..... I dont get this "scattering" effect you are talking about and I have noticed no such thing. Not trying to insult everyone I am just trying to see where you are coming from.

*BTW when I say take a look at the stock bulb I mean the dims at night they are horrible*
