Newbie in Gainesville Fl

Hello all. I have been looking for a used evo for months. Finally got it 2 months ago. 05 tarmac black 23000 mi. Ive been reading threads on this site for a few months now just to see what the first steps are to moding my evo. Let me say that I love my car! Mods are: Apexi tt, s-afc2, Gready type r bov (hate it, want different one and mabee 2 stage ebc) Helix 3" downpipe, 3" testppe, o2 sim, titanium muffler, Act xtreme clutch and flywheel w/ss line, Hawk hp pads and Hotchkis race springs. I do have one question. There is a knob next to the fog lamp switch by my left knee. When I turn it I hear a servo or something. What is it for? Thanks.

Congrats on the Evo, Nice choice on the color too!! The knob your referring to is an adjuster for your headlights, points them up or down, make yourself at home and use the SEARCH often!! Edit: Watch your spelling and grammer too, people will not hesitate to ruin your threads over a couple misspelled words!!

Pull up to a garage door or something and try adjusting them, they do move but not to much..
As far as mods go, You should look into a MBC, Drop- In Filter (K&N) and DEFINETLY get a Flash, like I said use the Search, its there for a reason. Think of this site as an ASkjeeves or Google that is devoted to your evo, anything you need to know, just type it into the search and chances are its already been covered. Good Luck!

hey ufevo hows the car. Ive been looking at them and people have told me that once it has mileage in the 20,000 and 30,000 that the car is already been used and that the turbo is all messed up and stuff. Let me know how it runs cause i gotta let my mom know they told her that stuff and she kinda changed her mind.

No problem with the turbo @ higher mileage, it seems fine. After looking in to it I think I'll go with the mbc vs the ebc. carbon fiber tripple gage pod w/tweeter cut out, and a flash, I wonder if Rollin's speed shop in Gainesville will do it? Headlights do move a little, it was hard to see as I was adjusting them on a very bumpy road. Also put shorty K&N on. Love the car!!!! Corners and boosts like crazy. GO GATORS!!!!!!

what is really the purpose for the headlamp adjustment? I always leave mine as high as they go. they go so low, their pointed like straight in front of the car, why would someone drive like that?

I use the lowest setting in well-lit, urban areas, or in the rain during daytime. In these applications, the headlights mostly serve to identify the car and don't actually add much to the driver's vision regardless of their position, but they can bother other folks. So, why not make things run a little smoother all the way around?

I run the highest setting when driving on back roads with no other traffic, as it tends to blind other motorists. All other times, I use the third highest setting.

bucking @ part throttle

As for the headlights I leave them on high (if im not in the city) as I also drive alot in the country. They do light up the road well wich helps in the case of dark tinted windows. (I got a ticket for them yesterday, oops!!!) Now on to my biggest problem. As I read in other theads it seems that I'm not the only one with a bucking problem. My car bucks violently in 5th @ part throttle around 110-130mph. After reading other threads Im going to close the spark plug gap some. If that is not the problem it could be the bov facing the maf giving it a crazy signal. Or could be fuel problem. The treads on this problem gave me a great place to start.

if it bucks at part throttle/partial boost in fifth, then it's normal(though unwanted)compressor surge. whenever you go partial boost/partial throttle in higher gears, fully let off of the gas pedal when slowing some, try not to fluctuate it. GO GATORS!!!
