It's the "regular" Evo model, the one that sits between the RS and the MR. I believe the GSR designation is used in Japan.

This may help. The GSR is known in Japan, but its our standard Evo VIII or IX

RS is the very base model but you get the aluminum roof. mirrors + handles not painted car color, no wing.
GSR- SSL Package option, no aluminum roof, you get radio
MR - add 6 speed, bbs rims, vortex gen, zero lift package option, aluminum roof,
MR SE- everything included in MR plus ugraded lip, stiching on seats

this is a rough outline, but the site tells u further.

The GSR is just a trim. It originated back on the Evo III and it actually does not mean nothing. It just differs from the RS model because it has electric mirrors, climate control, electric windows ,alloy rims and other small trim features.

You can view all the models here:

People always guessed the GSR abreviations letters on the Evos but it is just a trim within the Evolution model, thai is it. I have never found nothing specifically explaining other that what I just said. If someone has any proof please feel free to share it.
