i agree i drove mine like i stole it , i dont agree with a gentle break in , look at race engines they put them on a engine dyno and run the f out of them , just my view

I searched and searched and still can't really find other sites that agree with the one mentioned above, so I thought it was just another guy's "method" and not really a proven deal.
Getting the rings to set from factor on these cars isn't too hard. The site above is for motorcycles, jap bikes at least are brought up to redline from factory to make sure the engine will not have failures. A bike is pretty much a race engine from factory, running them hard from factory wont hurt it and in the long run produces slightly more power. (We are talking about 2-5hp here..)

Break in proceedures are all about loading up the engine to get the rings to set in right. Decelerating doesn't do anything for your break in..

Personally breaking in the car for me is gradually taking up the rpm's at load. I don't launch the car while breaking it in just do a few 2nd then 3rd gear runs up to like 5k rpms then start easing into the higher range after a brief cool down, meaning just driving it around slowly for awhile. A very empty, long straight road would be ideal to do these kinds of break-in's.

Everyone has their own preferences to how it should be done. I try to get a good number of runs in before stepping up to the next level of rpms. Make sure you check your fluids and stuff, just because the car is new doesn't mean its fluid levels are perfect.
