Really Dumb MBC Question

Hey,

Does one "turn" on the MBC typically equate to 1psi of boost???

Thanks in advance.

What MBC are we talking about here?

1- To be safe, yes. Then you can turn it up until you reach the wanted psi.

2- Not always, depends on unit. Ex. My Hallman ES 1 turn is .75 psi or so.

Make sure to completely loosen the MBC before you install it. Then just turn it up 1 turn and check it, keep doing this until you hit the PSI you want. You need a boost gauge when you get a MBC by the way.

Why not just increase boost via the ECU ?? The ECU will be able to control boost taper better than the MBC, is more stealth (warranty issues), and can adjust for climate changes. The only downside is that you need to 'tinker' with a few tables to get the ideal boost curve for your needs as opposed to just turning the MBC dial. I have used both and the MBC is definitely easier, but for most scenarios the ECU or EBC is much more sophisticated and will yield more HP (less boost taper).
