noob here

Hello all, just want to introduce myself, I picked up an Evo9 about 2 weeks ago, I traded in my 06Xrunner for it. Prior to my Xrunner I had a 04 STI, hated to trade it in for the Xrunner but I thought I need a truck. Anyway I was missing boost so much I traded the Xrunner in for the Evo9. Its (Evo9) is just unbelievable, the boost response isn't as linear as the STI but once it hits 3500 RPMs it takes off like a rocket!
I just broke 1000 miles today, I haven't pushed it past 5000 RPMs yet, is this the proper way to break her in? I know the manual states not to go past 5000 RPMs for the first 600 miles just want to get feedback on other EVO driver's tips on their experience during the break in period. Anyway happy to be on this forum, I will be posting pics soon as I figure out how to post em.

Some will say baby it for 600miles... some will say do 1000miles to be safe...the rest will say drive it like you would normally everyday....

For my first 1000miles, i only went to about 5500rpm.

Bad advice. After 1000 miles though, your good to go. Keep an eye on oil consumption.

Thanks for all the feedback fellas, I really love the EVO, it's by far the sexiest import out there, it's not too flashy but real car enthusiast know what kind of beast it really is. I have a quick question, what kind of life span should I expect from the stock tires?

Exclamation 1000 miles

I put on a 1000 in two weeks and I was told you need to change the fluids before you rip it. It can't hurt!
