boost gauge

i got my autometer boost guage yesterday and will be installing it, this weekend.

ive been searching around, and it looks like all the boost gauges come with a soft black vacuum hose for the gauge.. mine came with a hard with hose? whats the deal with that?

and just to be clear, you hook it to the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line ??

if anyone has pics i would be grateful!

I would find another source off boost. I installed mine when I was a noob, and put it into the FPR line, but in retrospect. that is probibly the worst place to have a boost leak, I have the line to replace it with, just havent gotten around to it yet. Just find some source of vaccum on the intake manifold, they are everywhere. All autometer mechanical boost gauges have that hard line. Its the only way there compression fittings will work to screw into the back of the gauge, so its fine to use, come through the hole in the firewall thats plugged with a black grommet on the passenger side, use a wire hanger to punch out the grommet as well as fish the line through.

It'll be a learn as you go kind of thing. This forum is a great help but if you are by yourself it will take longer than average. Second one is easy as hell...

Probably not a bad idea I used the line to the DV myself which is pretty accessible with minimal effort.

BTW the hard nylon hose is to minimize pressure fluctuations via soft rubber hoses expanding and contracting due to the pressures at work. At least thats how it was explained to me :P
