Fuel Injectors?
Fuel Injectors?
I'm posting this in the newbie section because I am a little embarrased to ask? Searched around for a little but haven't found an answer. As of now I have the following mods on my car-
TBE w/ Test Pipe
Drop In Filter
MBC
Fuel Pump
Tune
I plan in near future to put on the following mods-
O2 Housing
Cams
LICP
Re-Tune
Is it necessary to upgrade the Fuel Injectors, I was planning on going with 780cc. Is it safer to do it, or could I hold off on doing it for a little while? Will the stock Fuel Injectors be maxed out? I can do the Fuel Injectors if I have to, just wondering if I have to?

It all depends on your IDC (injector duty cycle) which you can log with a tactrix cable and the supporting software. Normally it is not a good idea to upgrade injectors unless you need to do so because you could be injecting too much fuel thereby creating a rich state and very possibly rich knock (learned this from JEstr). Take a look at that and if you're looking at anywhere near 85-90% IDC, it's a good choice to go with larger injectors, although not too large. Just a step up from the stock injector should suffice.
I haven't seen a true need for injectors on our cars with bolt on mods. Once you go with a stroker kit or larger turbo, that's when the need for fuel injectors come up. I see you have a fuel pump which I'm going to assume is a Walbro 255lph pump. You're pretty much set with your fuel system as long as your IDC looks good (which it should).

No need for you to go and spend money on an injector upgrade at your current mod level nor even for your projected mods. There should be plenty of headroom unless you were to upgrade to a larger turbo.
Why does Buschur include 680 injectors and the Walbro 255 as their stage 4 upgrade? That would still be on stock turbo.
Also, why would you run rich with bigger injectors? They will only spray as much fuel as they are told to. You will have the ability to spray more fuel with larger ones but the ECU controls how much fuel enters the engine so not sure how you would run rich unles you just slapped them in their and didnt get retuned for them.
Not being a smartass, I really am a newb with injectors as I never had a reason to research it.

proably for saftey issues, i have much more mods then he is asking about, with a white rabbit tme turbo, and stock injectors and sean ivey say they are fine.so for the mods he is asking for there is no need to waste your money on aftermarket injector's.and if u are not tuned you proably will run extremly rich with bigger injectors.

The Buschur Stage IV kit uses the larger injectors not because the stock injectors can't provide the required fuel, but as a necessary evil for optimizing tune with the SAFC II piggy back computer, used in this particular Buschur package. In fact, check with Buschur, as I think you can now do the Stage IV w/o the SAFC, and thus you wouldn't need the injectors.

If your mod level doesn't require larger injectors, then there is no need to waste your money on them. In general, larger injectors are more of a b**ch to tune for. It is easier for the stock ECU to control the smaller stock injectors.
