Anyone have the Performance Chip people are selling on Ebay for like $10.00? If so does it really work? Or if anyone knows anything about it, please let me know. Thanks.

If it is like some of the other kits out there, it is a "kit" that installs a resistor in the sensor for air temp or coolant temp. It makes the ECU think that the car is not warmed up yet and richens the mixture of fuel to air. I do not have any numbers from dynos or 0-60 times, but if it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. Hope this helps.

the e-bay chips are a scam cause you can't get a chip for 10 bucks i've never heard of one even a good piggyback chip will run you some cash. i don't know what they give you cause i don't know anyone crazy enough to get one, but it's like the boat blower motor they sell on e-bay and tell you it's an intake turbo cause all it is is a blower motor that blows on your intake. all

 

just get a turbo

 

yup i wouldn't even risk it cause those chips are only foolin' your car anyway and in a couple of months i bet you engine turns to **** from bad singnals that this cheapo chip sent...

exactly... even if you have 3 grand laying around it will cost you more than that if you have a stock lancer. You really wanna run a turbo lancer on stock rims, tires, brakes, suspension, and the rest of the stock parts? i think not.

 

Scam, just like everyone else said. Also avoid eletric turbos and 1 time NOS shots. The eletric turbo is a fan (you can blow more air with a straw then the fan)and the 1 time NOS shots are just whippets that the kids use to get high. Just like what some of did as kid with redi whip

 

Stay away from that. You get what you pay for......

 

i bought one for $4 just to see what it was and tried it. It makes your cel come on and it did seem to help a tiny bit. either that, or i just wanted to think it helped a tiny but ! i didnt expect anything so i wasnt dissapointed when i got just that. i figured it was $4 just to see if it helped at all. couldnt stand the cel being on and the fact that i ghetto rigged mt car so i threw it away

yeah, it's not a chip, it's just a resistor that costs less than $1 from radio shack. If anyone knows the amps, you could buy it yourself. I believe it does actually increase hp slightly, because it is a recognized mod in SCCA autocross racing (installing a resistor inline with the MAS and ECU), but you have to cut some wire and stuff to do it. In my best opinion, it's not worth monkeying with until the warranty runs out. And don't buy it off ebay, buy it from an electronics store for less.

 

i hate it more when someone puts something down by the cost of the mod or puts it down because it gives less than 50 HP. some mods increase horsepower and cost less than $2000. any mod that's less than $2000 gets critsized by someone.
alot of these cheap mods are false only because they claim high numbers (HP) but if someone were to critsize it after getting it dynoed, then measure the $ per HP, these mods may not seems so bad.
if i don't want or can't afford a turbo and can get 10 HP for $100, insead of a turbo which costs $300 for 10 HP, which is a better mod?
