Considering an evo...

Hey guys,

Im really considering an evo right about now and wanted to know what do you guys pay monthly, and do any of you have not so perfect credit like me? What do you pay? The dealer has approved me but they cant really discuss figures until i actually go in because i have a trade in that i am upside-down on, so of course they have to look at my current car and see whats up from there. I just want to get a general idea of what to expect.
Thanks, alot

Keep your current car until you pay it off or pay it down enough to not be upside down.

If you don't you will always be in the upside down boat and dealerships love you for that.

My .02 is don't trade your car in on an Evo.

Not to be a smart-***, but the financially correct approach is to negotiate the interest rate, purchase price and trade-in value. Allowing the monthly payments alone to control your decision is an invitation to get raped.

Get the lowest possible interest rate, the lowest possible purchase price and the highest possible trade-in value, and then see if you can handle the resulting monthly payments. It is also best to negotiate the purchase price and trade-in value separately. Otherwise the dealer will simply push money from one into the other.

I agree with everyone. Pay down your car or wait until your not upside down. I saved for 8 months then did 2-4 months of research on price comparing (all while I was saving more money) I finally got an evo from a dealership like 1000 miles away from me b/c I got such a great deal on a brand new one ($28400 WW GSR). Really know what you want then save up for it. You will appreciate so much more that way. It really pays to wait...

Your looking at paying anywhere from $500.00 to $800.00 a month. Without all the information I'm guessing it's going to be somewhere in that neighborhood. Don't forget about the insurance too. In most cases, that's going to go up as well. Also, don't forget your going to have to buy 93 octane from now on... Also, don't forget things that break on the EVO can be quite expensive... Oh, and if you get the mod bug, which you probably will, that's going to be expensive too!

In the end, you need to think of these other points I mentioned on top of the car payment. These are greatly going to increase the cost..

So, I would think hard about this decision! The EVO is not a cheap car to own by any means..

Just my 2cts..

I paid 20,000 for my car and 21600 otd at 7.24% my payment is 434.00 for 60months so all said and done 26,040 if I dont refinance. The credit union Im through will allow me to drop 1.0% if all payments are made for the first six months then another .5% after 1yr then another .5% for ever year after that so if everything goes well I will only end up paying around 23k-24k after tax licesne ect
