Hallman Pro MBC or Remove Pill?

Mods are in my sig and won't be installing the flash until I decide which is better. The tune is set for 22 psi and tapering to 16 psi. Need inputs to help me decide which will be more trouble free. Thanks!

You need to do both...If you don't remove our boost restrictor pill than your manual boost controller doesn't do much. Good Luck.

If you only remove the pill and have not mbc then you will be running on wastegate boost only, 10psi.

Thats not true. A properly installed mbc cirumvents the factory boost solenoids completely.

As far as the pill goes, it depends on which one you remove. If you remove the 1 closest to the turbo only then you will be able to run more boost and control it with a flash - it will not be running wastegate pressure. If you remove both pills then you will get wastegate pressure.

Going the ECU / pill removal method requires lots of testing / logging and working with the ECU settings to get the desired boost. There is a thread in ECU flash that explains most of it.

As far as which one you should choose. Really you have 3 options.

mbc - boost will vary with the weather quite a bit and you will probably see cold weather related boost spikes = constant adjustment in some climates.

ebc - may be difficult to setup, normally fixes weather related issues.

ecu control - difficult to setup, will not be able to go much beyond 21-22 psi. May not completely remove weather related spikes.

you can change the pill out to a different size and that can help you control boost with the ecu...but the MBC is definitely the much easier idea

If you are already familiar with ECU Flash and have a tactrix cable

This article discusses modifying the stock pill (resize) and how to adjust the ECU
HOW TO - Control boost using ECUFLash and the stock boost solenoid

This one is just pill removal.

So to sum this up. Install the Hallman Pro and cap off the stock solenoid? Monitor with boost gauge for occasional spikes based on weather and readjust? Would I leave the pill alone if I do this? I have the flash ROM, just waiting to install it.

Yes, you dont have to mess with the pills at all. Remove the Y hose that goes to the turbo and wastegate and cap the hose that it connects to that goes to the stock boost control solenoids. Then run 2 new vaccuum hoses, one from the turbo nipple and one from the wastegate solenoid to your mbc. Adjust mbc, done.
