what kind of problem? syncro's? what gears?

 

some have reported grinding or feeling notchy into 5th. i never had a problem with my 03 trans ever with 40k pretty modded and driven hard.

It's the synchros and there is a TSB about it ... search.

 

Input shaft service bulletin for misfire issues, crappy synchros as opposed to the 04 and up version, the reverse gear rattles like crazy at idle, but those really aren't that bad. A shep rebuild makes for a nice tranny.

 

i got about 24k miles on my 03 and it shifts like butta. i drive the car preatty hard too

 

My trans is getting new synchros (mainly 3rd gear) right at the 59,980 mile mark ......CAN YOU SAY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY!

 

just about 58k on mine and I don't have problems with it.

 

I can't wait for a rebuild. It'll be nice. Had 3rd and 5th gear synchros replaced. Now 2nd grinds, and every gear is notchy. Hard to get into gears when cold. Saving for rebuild...., b/c the replacement gears still don't feel great.

 

All years have tranny issues with grinding and what not. Its pretty much hit or miss. There is a thread floating aound with a bunch of people complaining of gear grinding right off the truck.

 

Grinding issue occur, but tranny runs very strong on any evo. But guys are right, it's been covered many, many times. Search next time

 

49,000 and no problems

 

My 5th gear syncro has been bad for some time. Mitsu says they don't see a problem with it and refuses to replace it, even though I've had them check it twice now. I will eventually rebuild as well, and I just have to delay my shift into 5th for a fraction of a second to avoid grinding. It sucks, but I can live with it.

 

42k no problems. Shifts way better than any other car I've owned!
