Hey what will the difference in sound be with a reg. test pipe vs a resonated test pipe? im trying to decide between the 3 AMS TBE choices.

1. w/ hi-flow cat
2. w/ reg. test pipe
3. w/ resonated test pipe

1..2..or 3???

 

Almost unnoticeable, it depends a lot on your overall TB. On my cars the Greddy Evo II already quiet down the car a lot.

I had my Evo 8 running a test pipe(non resonated) and I had the Evo 9 with a resonated test pipe and they sound about the same,.

The HFC will make a big difference though, it is a piece that actually quiets down significantly. I also have this set up as well.

run a hi flow cat ( a real one, not the ones on ebay) and itll quiet it down nicely. Then get a test pipe for when your at the track.

 

test pipe is the loudest
a resonated test pipE AND HIGH FLOW CAT is about the same noice level

 

i have the ams with the hfc and its not that loud at all

 

1 = Test pipe is loudest
2 = Test pipe with resonator next
3 = HFC is the most quite

 

test pipe is loud and most performance, then followed by resonated, and then hfc

 

yea iv been reading on here that a test pipe will free up about 5-15 hp, i had a JIC Ti exhaust w/ a test pipe wehn i had my 350Z and that was LOUD! so i dont think an evo w/ 1 could be any louder then that was

 

I disagree. You must test all of them like I did then you will realized that the resonated test pipe and the HFC are two different beast.

The loudest is a straight test pipe, then the resonated test pipe then the HFC being the quietest one.

I have in hand :

3" test pipe
3" test pipe resonated
3"HFC
Plus I had another Works 3" HFC.
