Lightbulb Auto door locks.

I just bought an 03 EVO about a month ago after totaling my WRX. I go to school in milwaukee and yesterday it snowed all day. My car was parked on the street and i needed to take a a drive to my mom's house about 45min away. Naturally when it snows you clean the snow off your car. I pressed the unlock button and grabbed the brush and scraper and went to clean off the driver side door, so no snow would get in when i opened the door. I open the door, start the car and get out to clean off the rest of the car. I clean off the rest of the car and try to get back in but sure enough, all of the doors are locked. So now my car is running and I cant get in, not to mension my spare keys are at my moms house. I call my mom, no answer. I call a friend to go get them for me, no answer. Then i think good thing my aunt works for AAA. I call AAA and they tell me some one will help me within an hour, they never show up. I finally get a hold of my friend who brings my keys. This all lasted about 3 hours.

That is always the best way to find out that the doors lock themselves back up.

Great way to start off EVO ownership.

Shoot, I didn't think my 03 locked.. I enabled it with my alarm (aftermarket)

Sorry to hear, I hate it when that happens.. I almost always leave a window cracked a bit or a door a little ajar.

I agree w/merkzu. That is a RIDICULOUS internet claim. How would a telephone that is designed to carry audio frequencies (20Hz to 20kHz in the best case) carry an RF signal through the phone system and still have enough power to communicate properly with the car?!?! I highly doubt the truth of this.

To answer the above, I have noticed that if I unlock the car w/o opening any doors, the car will lock in about 2 minutes. I have started the car many times, closed the door and left for 5+ minutes and not experienced this autolock phenomenon. Sounds like REALLY bad luck to me.

Should have gotten an RS... you would have saved a ton of money and the doors never lock themselves.

I didn't think the doors lock when it senses that the keys are in the car. I've left my keys in the car while its running for 30 minutes and they've never locked.
