My car has 8200 miles and the inside of my Advans are nearly bald. The Shop that did my clutch said it needs an alignment real bad. My buddy Adam (Tire and wheel Guru) said that if I made enough fuss the dealer might give me a free alignment. Whats you thoughts?

 

They will do it before 10k miles or so I was told by a mitsu service writer. I tried to get mine done at 12k and was denied.

 

It seems that quite a few members on here have had bad alignments from the factory. My advice would be to go to your dealer and ask, couldn't hurt.

 

Yea...I worked at the dealer I bought it from. Also whats the optimal settings for the alignment? Anyone got a good link?

My Evo needed an alignment when I drove it off of the lot. It was covered by my warranty without any hassle. If I were you, I would NOT mention anything about your new clutch when you talk to the service representative. Mitsubishi is voiding warranties like crazy for some reason.

 

Yea...I probably would not say anything. Car looks stock...Im almost thinking about taking out my boost guage.

According to the Mitsubishi service manual, the Evo should be aligned as follows:

Rear Camber: -1 degree +/- 30'

Rear Toe: 3mm +/- 2mm (0.12" +/- 0.07")

Front Camber: -1 degree +/- 30' or -2 degree +/- 30'
(Two settings available!)
Front camber should be less than 30' difference between the two front wheels.

Front Toe: 0mm +/- 2mm (0.00" +/- 0.08")

BTW What settings would work the best for tire wear?

 

I was denied at 12k also...showing threads on both front tires...i didnt even notice it until someone told me...and they wouldnt even do a thing about it...just told me to go down the road to NTB and get new tires but they cant help me...

What a joke Mitsubishi is sometimes...

 

With your mileage i dont think the dealer is going to warranty your alignment. If after the first week or two you bought the car and brought it back saying it was pulling they would take care of it. But i think you have no shot at all. Good luck anyway.

But will they cover the $1000 set of Advans that were prematurely destroyed by that faulty alignment? It'd be nice. My stockers, too, were bald on the inside by 15,000 miles (and I wasn't even hard on them).

 

The tires wont be covered...we need a class action lawsuit to get tires.

 

Yeah I needed new tires before I hit ten thousand miles ( I had been pretty abusive to them). The cords were completely showing through on my front two tires, but my passenger front was the worst. Just had to suck it up and pay for 4 new tires. I wouldn't even bet my little sister ( no matter how much I can dislike her sometimes) on Mitsubishi warranty work. I hope this isn't the stupidest question ever, but while we're on the topic, do all tires need to be replaced if one tire is bad on an awd vehicle?
