How is the ssautochrome manifold & their o2 housing?

I know the ssautochrome o2 housing is great, However I see they have a package for the o2 housing and manifold and I was wondering if it was worth buying both? But I was curious if ssautochrome manifolds were strong enough and if they do not crack? Does anyone have them on their Evo?

No need for an aftermarket mani on the Evo unless you have an upgraded turbo, as most of them provide little to no gains and have the tendency to crack. If you really do want to upgrade though, I'd go with the ported and coated stocker from people like Paradigm Performance Inovation

Mine cracked. Went back to stocker. Still have stock with a GT30 turbo.

It sure does look pretty! =p You run a risk of cracking a manifold with any tubular design IMO, for the money and the gains it's hit or miss, if you wanted the car to look differently, I dont think anyone would make fun of you for running one honestly.

I dont necessarily agree with this at all. I have seen many cases of a significant gain with the addition of a ported stock manifold and most of the aftermarket ones as well.

Search. This topic has been beaten to death.

Every SS autochrome manifold that I have seen that has been run on a car has cracked. Every now and then someone someone I know from the Honda camp try's one, only to later have to buy or find a good manifold. The manifolds and the turbos have historicially been junk. I havent seen one in a while so maybe they've improved them.

SSautochrome is crap, all of their DSM products were crap too. I wouldn't recommend buying anything from them.

Their O2 housing is the only part proven to make significant power over anything else available.

The TBE, FMIC, IC pipes, radiator, and various other parts that SSAC/XS Power makes are all questionable.

Although if you run their O2 housing then you want to use the stock manifold. Their O2 housing does not retain a bracket to support the weight of the turbo assembly to the block. A stock manifold will not crack from this stress although many tubular ones will...especially the SSAC.

Ported/Coated Stock Manifold and Ebay O2 FTW. Maybe I am slanted though...hehe.

i bought the tubular one (stock replacement) and one with a 38mm wastegate port. They where cheap so i bought them both to kinda check out. I never did put them on. out side, not too bad...inside looked kinda nasty, they definitly looked like they would crack.

I really didnt think they were that bad for the price. You definitly get what you pay for. i would put that manifold on a cheap project car....not an evo.

Good from a far...far from good.

I have mine for 20k miles and it hasn't crack yet, may because of the support bracket I made for it. My brother had one on his honda and it sucks, but I hear they improved the design, so I just wanted to try it out. I installed it with the O2 housing and showed improvement in power, but I wouldn't know which one made the most power. I'm keeping my stock headers just in case.
