Question tell me somthing about the 02 Rally?

ive been looking at new cars, and must say i love mitsubishi. the eclipse was the first to catch my eye, and now the lancer. the '02 rally looks like a very nice car, and at a reasonable price, actually great price, but performance is kinda scary. 120 hp? 140 torque? not exactly high. i was a nismo fan before i ever say a mitsu, and must say the new SE-R Spec V is a little more catchy. so if you can tell me some facts about the rally, or some aftermarket upgrades that could improve the somewhat crappy performance, i may be swayed. thanks.

Its an extremely fun car to drive, its very zippy. Handles beautifully and offers a smooth ride. Yea it may lack in the area of performance but the Lancer has nice lines and is definately visually appealing. There is alot of room for performance upgrades which makes this a good project car. It also has a low price tag which eases the pain of buying a new car. Check out my ride in the registry.

Damn straight RoadRace! These guys rock! The Lancer is a great little car for the money. Like most cars, it has its ups and it has its downs. Don't be deterred by performance woes just yet seeing as the engine is unproven but from what we know from RoadRace, it takes to boost pretty well.

I've had mine for about 6 months now, and I really like it, handles great, pretty quick, looks good, lots of space (for those who care).... I just ordered my intake/exhaust/short shifter/wheels and it didnt cost me to much, so..... Have you test driven one yet? Because when you hear 120 hp you just associate it with @ss slow, but it's not bad at all, I think you will be pretty impressed with what those little horses push out.

I'm with Oz...test drive one. That's what sold me. The only thing that may concern you is the lack of pickup. Aside from that it handles fairly wonderfully stock, and, with the help of RRM working closely with us, the '02 Lancers are turning out to be modable and fun to drive.

I think you've gotten pretty fair assessments of the Lancer, but the only way to really know whether you like them is the test drive. It sold me at least.

Most of you all were quite lucky to test drive (compared too me atleast)... I was supposedly not old enough to take it for a test drive so I had to go by what my dad said about the car. But once I got the car home an drove it, it was a nice little car for the money, an yes LOTS OF ROOM (always a plus). It has some pretty good accels if you give it some gas. An yes in the months - years to come it will be a nice fully modable car.

This is true, but you have to keep the revs pretty high. Apparently Mitsubishi decided that people who drive US Lancers don't use/need low end torque. Still...give it a try.

I have an auto... Don't think I can keep my car revving high unless I'm in neutral. Or I can always floor the damn thing.

Why not try putting in "2" instead of "D" on your tranny?
At least you can keep the rev up once in second gear....

probably not the best idea to just floor it

My old car was auto, but it'd move real nice if you just knew how to coax her and get her to shift/keep her from shifting. You can actually get a lotta performance outta most autos from what I've driven. Just gotta get a feel for em.

The auto floor kind of deal...
I didn't actually mean I floored it off the get go.
I'm not that mean.
It's usually pretty gradual an about the gears shifting...
Usually with my car I can give a quick semi-push on the pedal an it'll shift without much of a speed loss.
