Finally In The Market
Finally In The Market
Hey everyone,
In the next month or two I am looking to finally purchase my first Evo and officially be part of the family so I am looking to all of you great guys for some help to make sure I make the best decision possible.
I'm wanting to get the 2006 Evo IX SE. The dealerships around here aren't that great, and the prices seem a little high. So I've been looking at some other places in different states.
Few questions, for those who have purchased out-of-state, how did that work out for you? Also right now the best deal I have found is from Norco Mitsubishi (in Cali). Has anyone here dealt with them before? If so how was the experience? Like I said, I'm in the shopping around stage so I want to make sure I get the best deal possible and everything is open.
The price they are offering right now is $28,999 for the 06 Evo IX GSR SE. On top of that I also noticed they have rebates of up to $7,500. I am not sure what all I qualify for but I am graduating high school in about 40 days and that is one they said would be good to go on top of a few others. They are also throwing in a free turbo timer which is nice and free shipping of the vehicle.
I have been working and saving everything I can and I currently have about $10,000 saved up towards the car. I have been told that the best way is to shop around with the banks, find the best interest rate available, and get a loan through them and pay the car in full to the dealership. Once again, I am open to all suggestions.
I still have plenty of time to work out the details and figure out the best route to take on everything. I just had those few questions for now, I'm sure more will arise in the future. If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask, I will be more than willing to help you help me.
Thank you in advance for taking the time out to help me, you guys are great and I couldn't ask for a better community.

That is a excellent price but I am almost sure that the rebate wouldn't apply. You might get away with the typical$500 rebate fro HS graduation but that is it, that car is already reduced a lot.
Please make sure you already did your homework on the insurance department, at your age it would kill you. Expect to pay nearly as much for insurance tha for the car payment itself.
Good luck and welcome to the Mistubishi family.

Yes I am aware of the insurance. It's going to kill me but my whole pay check will be dedicated to the payment and insurance.
The typical $500 rebate is what I'm referring to, every bit counts.

Good luck searching. Im trying to buy one this week but I can't find one that I want closer than 350 miles...aka Texas.
As far as the ones in Cali. Its the destination charge...not shipping I believe. (The shipping to them, not you) Someone correct me if Im wrong.
Cheapest I found was 30k flat for the 06 IX SE.
Anyways, goodluck.

aside from the car and insurance it doesn't just stop there
I think you'll be getting yourself into a pickle
My parents will be helping me with the maintenance and all of those things until the car is payed off.
Thanks for the information bustin, I thought by 'destination charge' they meant shipping. Anyone know what the shipping usually is?

$1000 or so for shipping.
If parents have to help for the next 4-5 years, then you can't afford the car. That $10k could be much more wisely spent than an expensive car. You're just a kid.

Warr, I will only need help for a little. After I graduate I plan on having a full-time job while taking night classes for college. It will be a lot of work and hectic, but it's worth it to me.
Sounds like a crappy life just to be able to drive an Evo. Definitely not the way to get started in life after HS. A car is not that important, and it's going to be much tougher than you think. Is night school all you really can manage to do? Why not go to school for real and focus on getting a really nice degree while immersing yourself in your studies so that when you graduate, you can get a sweet job and easily afford the Evo without mommy and daddy helping. That's much better for your future than working fulltime and going to night school just so that you can drive an Evo in your teens...
Niko, it seems like we have a lot in common and you understand the most. Thanks for your input man.
Thunder, I'm not sure yet what I should do. Thats why I came here to see what you all thought.
I have done a lot of thinking into it, I know it's going to be tough due to the stage of life that I'm in because of my age, but I have worked very hard to get this 10 grand saved up and my parents know that. I'm getting honor roll in school, all of that good stuff, and they are here to support me 100% if I need any help.
